I have been a Nightwish fan for over 14 years. What attracts me to their music is surprise. They do it with every subsequent album. They are not a typical metal band that has some style and that's it. They are very different. Theirs is art. In the music, lyrics and videos. Just Nightwish

I have been a fan since 1998 but this new music is just bad. Toumas finally lost it. muddy, vocals buried in the mix. No hooks, sounds just like movie music now.

@@lakabaka Not bad, just different. They have evolved over time into a different sounding band. This may not appeal to you but Tuomas does what he likes, either you appreciate it or not, but the music is better than most bands can make, just no longer your "cup of tea". Enjoy the old albums by all means though :)

Tuomas said about this song: Floor at first is acting to be the preacher of fear, then the kids saying how things really should be and in the last chorus they join and that’s where the magic happens. The children’s choir gives a great twist and balance to the song. Like stated before in Weak Fantasy: Fear is a choice you embrace! Universe: not to spoil anything, but you can stop worrying ❣️

This album could be the best for me since Imaginaerum. Sometimes people forget Nightwish is an albums band first and foremost. Singles are distant second. So even if you love their singles, those are rarely among the best songs on their albums, unlike most bands. 🔥🤘🔥

Thank you. Whenever I see you are going to be reacting to Nightwish, I jump right on. I think you get it, more than most reactors. This song takes a lot of thought, and a lot of listens. And, IMO, that's what a good song should do. My interpretation of it has done almost a complete 180 from my first listen. But, that's Nightwish, and that's why I love them so much.

Like you, I was at their concert in San Francisco for the Human || Nature Tour and it was spectacular. This song and Perfume of the Timeless have a certain mysticism about them that draws me in and leaves me wanting more. Luckily, we are going to get a lot more in September wehn their new album gets released. Thank you for continuing your Nightwish reactions.

I think experience is the crucial important thing that connect humans with art. Nightwish made me read about evolution in 2015, and it helped me to cope with depression, and later influenced my current career as psychologist. Some people will listen to their song as a band that will not sound as they wanted. I will always hear as the art that gave me purpose.

I really really REALLY like this song. Is it my ultimate-favourite song from the band? No. Is it something I've listened to multiple times a day ever since its release? Yes. Is it stuck in my head? Yes. I really appreciate how well the heavy breakdown(?) section stands out when the rest of the song is less aggressive. And boy what a breakdown, I absolutely love it. Enjoyed your reaction as always! For me this is a very lyrically driven song so I am super interested in your take on them once you dive into them. Perhaps you can release another video with your thoughts on them. I think this is Tuomas's warning of humanities proclivity to freakout over the next disaster that people are pushing. My two favorite lines are "A new strain sent you back into your cave Obey, stay away, cover up" and "A need to feel dread, gloom, awe. A lust for never-ending doom porn" I especially love Tuomas's poetic turn in the second line to describe how people are fascinated with the bad and evil and give short shrift to the positive and uplifting. As they say in the news business, if bleed it leads.

Thank you for your rational comments. As a relatively newbie Nightwish fan this is the first NW album that I am lucky enough to hear fresh from the oven. Even with Human Nature I was a few months late from the party. So I really get to see now how many other NW fans react to new songs. I have to say that I've been a bit overwhelmed by the sky (or even space) high expectations that people have. The Perfume wasn't good enough, The Day of isn't good enough. There seems to be always something wrong. Maybe NW fans have been so pampered with so many masterpieces that there are now expectations for every song to be a new masterpiece, when in reality there are usually a couple or a few of them in every album and rest are otherwise great or good songs (or in some rare cases there's even a song to skip, but that isn't the end of the world either). And now some people are ready to judge the whole album as a failure based on two songs. I don't always understand... But yeah, good to hear some level headed opinions also. 🤘

I'm a Nightwish fan going back to just before Tarja left. I've enjoyed almost everything they've released, but I'm having problems with the music released so far for this album. I've tried hard, *REALLY* hard, but the best I can manage is a resounding "meh". It feels baroque (but not in a good way), self-indulgent, with vocal line complexity there for its own sake, rather than to help telling the story - and, for me, Nightwish is about telling stories. I realise this is probably an unpopular opinion, but that's how I feel about it.

A bit of a new way to go for Nightwish, with the children choir, having as much singing time as Floor almost i belive, Floor is doing some fast phrasing here to, something like she does in the song Shoemaker, kind off i think. The Ill starred kids of your junkyard thats us humans right, People today are getting told all kind of doomsday things, AI and war will end the world, but this song says, the end is fear, its not near, armagedon aint coming tommrow, so life your life, hide the unshot guns doomsday predictors tell is gonna blast. Also notice that Floor joins the kids choir at end and connect that to her charecter she is in video, she realize something during video, Toumas said so in a interview i watched.. I didnt read the book 1984 written by George Orwell, but the song got reference to that book i belive. At first listen i needed another listen, at 3th listen the song got me, and i started like the children choir, i actually think its a pretty good song, and something not heard like this from NW before, now i listened to the song many times! This is not a Empuu shine song, there is heavy guitar rhytm in the middle section and end, but not the big Empuu solo, but i also think this song dosent need it, because the Children choir takes spotlight instead,.. The title the day off.. is missing telling what its the day off, so i think this is where you can put in the optimistic view of the song, as a listener, if you like to, and hear the song that way, the listener decide what its the day off. The original idea was this one to be 1st single, because it was a diffrent sound from NW people told Tuomas, this have to be a single, but then Tuomas decided it should be Perfume of the timelees, and this 2nd.

Knowing that Tuomas has said before that movie scores were a big part of his inspiration, the one thing I really would want to know about this song particular is how much the, as he put it, "80s sound" of this song is specifically inspired by Alan Silvestri, because I can definitely hear a similarity to the theme of The Delta Force in the keyboard parts.

Just some thoughts. to me Nightwish like to have continuing themes for their story is this the best Nightwish song, I don't think so, but it is well made and its nice to see and feel them doing something different. Also anyone else feeling the shift in how these 3 albums work as a collective piece? the bombastic nature of EFMB the historic feel of H/N this feels like the evolution of the journey.

Tuomas writes his music for himself as well as his band mates. He hopes they like his ideas, songs. What everyone else thinks is not important to him, haters gonna hate no matter what and he couldn't care less. Nice reaction!

So true. I also hate it when "fans" try to dictate Tuomas what and how he should write. He writes because of the stories that need to be told, not to fans.

Great reaction, it took me a while to get used to this song and honestly it fits even. Though it's definitely not my favorite so far!

Floor recorded all her vocals at her home station a few weeks after giving birth so there might be some notable difference this son feels like an afterthought I don't think this album will do well single wise but as a collection it might be better

I think Tuomas as he gets older is being more Progressive but still adding the Symphonic part. The Facebook comments are quite vile in nature. Astounds me that people post stuff like that publicly. Tony Kakko does Melody first & the lyrics come later. In a A & P Reacts interview he said the lyrics are the hardest part. Tuomas has said he wants to do his Scrooge album live. Yes please. Cold Heart of The Klondike live oh hell yeah. I like this song but not a favourite but that's ok.

Hey Chase, great reaction as always.👍 Looked forward to it, really miss your Nightwish breakdowns. Wouldn't a Nightwish day per month be possible? ;D There are lots of songs left for you to react to... Stargazers, Beauty and the beast, Wanderlust, Walking in the air, ... Hope to see Nightwish back in your schedule. (; Have a great day

Perfume of the Timeless has been the better song for me this round, for this upcoming album, but I do feel like this song does interesting things. It puts into short form the Nightwish we're used to hearing in longer songs. Which I find an interesting experiment/experience. Not my favorite song but I get it.

See, I personally love that more relaxed sound. And I do the same thing with the lyrics, as they're not always clear on first listen. (And does anyone think part of that instrumental break is reminiscent of the one from "Harvest?")😁

Yes, almost note by note. For me it is a selfstealing.Tuomas has done this all the time, so what.

A bit of unpopular opinion but here it goes: As with the previous single I kind of like the verses more than the chorus here, maybe because again we get to hear more Floor's voice on them The instrumental interlude is ok if unimpressive Lyrics should be really interesting for sure but musically I expect something more, hope the rest of tracks offer it

I love the 80s sound in this, hate the childrens choir (but I always do), however I think its a good song over all. I really like Perfume as well, but I not going to pretend this is their best work, but neither is it their worst.
