Joe Halliday from Hello Sailor FX gave this description of the pedal: The Kossoff drive was designed to get my Les Paul custom as close to Paul's tone in "Free live BBC Manchester" as possible. This, in my opinion, is the greatest recorded guitar of all time. FET's are employed to get that vintage growl that is clear and articulate but still overdriven. This has controls for Gain, Tone and Volume.
The vintage germanium rangemaster has one simple problem - Impedance, it has to be placed first in the signal chain......The Hello Sailor Effects Rangemaster has a built-in transformer allowing you to place it anywhere in the signal chain, or even drive it with your other pedals. Point to point hand wired in the UK using a variety of vintage and modern components, including a NOS Russian germanium transistor.
