The national language of the Philippines is Tagalog (Filipino) and English. Spanish use to be included in that. The Philippines was colonized by Spain for 333 years and the Americans colonized the Philippines for 50 years. Hence why you hear a mixture and combination of these languages.

I don't think there's a need of that at the moment since we're in the middle of a pandemic. We want something light and nakaka goodvibes na show like this. Cinematography ✅ - im loving the filter they used here. Visuals and Acting ✅ - Mico is exeptional Camera Angles ✅ - I can see JC has a 2 nd cam, giving us a different POV. That's a wow RomCom it is for the punchlines 🤭. Mico having a backstory moment sa opening I think some of the sound effects used are a bit off esp on the 1st part. Lastly bakit nakaka-BITIN na naman. Hahahaha nakaka inesh.. Pero mukha pa lng ni Tony nakaka kilig na kalerki. 💛💛💛 Cant wait for the episode 2 and Micos back story..

Been watching and rewatching this episode so much (honestly can't wait for Episode 2) that I've noticed some things I guess worth exploring (and explaining)? I may be overanalyzing stuff, but the more I see them, the more I (convince myself) think that they weren't unintentionally put there, but were deliberate because they complement either the scene, the mood, or the dialogue! Aaah, okay so here we go: 1. *Reciprocation.* I believe you can notice it at the start of Xavier and Mico's video meeting for the project, but there's also a bit of it during the Padawan meeting where Seph and Kookai teased each other about who would like them in the university (the Filipino term is "papatol" which connotes reciprocation). Anyway, reciprocation is pretty much a theme in this episode. We see this most evidently when Xavier coaxes Mico to say "I need you" after Xavier admits that he needs Mico. But there are other bits of it, too. You have the not so subtle shade throwing (e.g. Xavier's "How come I've never met you before?" to emphasize Mico's "loser freshie" identity versus Mico's clapback about varsity players not attending classes). And then my favorite part: the boxer shorts. It may be a very minute, almost "negligible" (quoting because you really can't ignore it lol) detail, but hear this out. Mico's mom calls him and he stands up, and unintentionally reveals he's not wearing pants. Then the next scene comes and we see Xavier with his tinola (subs say chicken stew), but the shot starts with him also showing he's wearing just boxers before sitting down. I say it's "negligible" because it just appears so casually you wouldn't think too much about it, but I think it's also a display of reciprocation. So...since this one's pretty established, I guess we could expect more of this reciprocation between the two in the next episodes? 2. *The necktie.* I wonder if any of you noticed, but the less tighter Mico's necktie becomes, the more he loosens and opens up to Xavier. During the last part of their meeting, you'll see that Mico no longer has the tie, and his top buttons are open, but you'll also notice that he's begun to smile more comfortably, a huge contrast to how annoyed he was when they started talking. 3. *The "sad" prologue.* This is more of a theory to be honest, and I know as we progress we'll learn more about Mico's heartbreak prologue, but I have this theory that while Mico might probably get emotionally hurt in the next episodes, there's also this possibility that his lines there (which sounded too poetic, formal, and less natural in Filipino, in case non-PH viewers didn't know) are part of the dialogue they had to do for their Literature project. Remember that the poem they need to analyze and perform is about a writer who couldn't move on from their lover. BUT THEN, again, this episode's established emotional tension, too, with Xavier having a girlfriend and of course the main pair of this series being Xavier and Mico. So, who knows. 4. *Laying down the setting.* I saw that some thought that this episode felt dragging, with not so much to "feel" which I totally understand, but I think this episode did a pretty good job in introducing us to the setting of the series, i.e. what we could expect in the next episodes. This is why it's dragging. It shows who the characters are, a bit of their dynamics, and the direction of the plot, too, without sacrificing too much of what it will offer. The first episode gives a slow burn feel, honestly, although I doubt it will be like that as we progress, and it's apparent that we'll see more of the drama and tension in the future. Alright, that's it! I didn't really plan to go deeper in this episode but boi, I'm really excited, and I really find the pair so cute!

I’m watching this right after finishing Game Boys, and...the two shows are so different from each other haha. Also, I LOVE that as a Filipino, I can understand little nuances that you’d only know if you were immersed in the culture or if it’s your culture too. An example is the “O po” that Xavier said to Mico at 19:10 which made Mico smile. It’s established that Mico is younger than Xavier because he’s a Freshman and Xavier is a Senior (and because Xavier called Mico a baby) and in the Filipino culture, you’d usually say, “po” at the end of sentences if you were speaking to someone older/someone needing respect. Because of this, it’s endearing for Xavier to say this to Mico because culturally it’s not accurate, but it’s used as a teasing/playful thing instead. But ifykyk tbh. Filipino BLs are on some next level ish 🥺
