I have had the pleasure of visiting Vietnam and I think its the most wonderful and romantic place on earth. The Vietnamese people have a great spirit and never give up. So much poverty it will change and recenter you. So many smiles it makes you want to return again and again. Toi yeu Viet Nam.

Hello Haus, My wife and I toured Southeast Asia last March. Most of our time was spent in Vietnam. We started in Saigon, then we toured the Mekong, then up the coast to Danang, Hoi An, Ha Long Bay (SOOOOO B R E A T H T A K I I I I N G !!!!!!!), Hanoi. Then we moved on to Cambodia, and Thailand. My wife and I both agree that Saigon was our most favorite city. And you're right about Vietnamese people....they were so gracious, friendly, and warmed our hearts with every encounter. I will NEVER forget about our overnight cruise of Ha Long Bay (Descending Dragons). I don't think I've ever seen, nor WILL I ever see a more stunningly profound sunset in the bay. I only wish it was a little warmer during that part of the trip. Evening temp was about 10-12 degrees Celsius. That trip was without a doubt, the most memorable trip I've ever had. I doubt there will ever be a trip that will top this tour we did. There was SO MUCH to photograph. I swear that everywhere I turned, there was something I wanted to capture. After our return, I edited my shots from over 3000....down to just over 2000. A few video clips. but the best ones I got was on a bicycle rickshaw tour in old Hanoi. Sorry for rambling......I could go on and on about Vietnam. Wish I could share some of the shots I took with you and your subscribers. (These aren't the typical tourist grab shots). I used to shoot portraits and weddings long ago, so each shot I took was carefully thought out......well.....whenever possible :P

Vietnam is a great tourist destination. Worth to mention though that the resorts you see in this video are some of the top ones, very, very expensive ($300 - $500 a night). There are many great places (4 stars) around $60/night and ** or *** around $30/night. For backpackers who are on a budget there are homestay places with $7-$10 /night. Vietnam is one place you must visit at least once. Beautiful places, beautiful people, really tasty food, young and optimist vibe.

+luis gonzalez Vietnam is a indeed beautiful place but my people are still living under the tyranny of a communist dictatorship that has killed many hundred of thousands more the west ever did and are still doing today if anyone dares even to ask for basic human rights such freedom of expression and assembly. There remains grinding poverty for many millions which tourists are ignorant off but it's not the tourists fault as they are just there to have a holiday. However I sometimes wish they open their eyes and minds a bit more and see the true suffering of the masses who have no rights whatsoever against communists thieves who continue to steal their land, property and kill them if they dare speak out. www.hrw.org/asia/vietnam vnafmamn.com/fighting/massacre_athue.html www.rfa.org/english/news/vietnam_landreform-20060608.html
@94110mission8 жыл бұрын
+daithuan You say you wish the tourists would open their eyes to what's going on around them, but what do you expect a tourist to actually "do" beyond that? The Western tourists you see are, more often than not, well-traveled, well-educated and politically astute. They know exactly what's going on around them, but they also know, from bitter experience, as outsiders it's not their job, place, or desire to intervene in your national or local politics. There are some things that one has achieve for oneself. Democracy is one of those things.
@NarrativeX_758 жыл бұрын
+94110mission I don't expect them to do any more than what I mentioned except possibly take up issue in their respective countries with their politicians who talks a lot about rule of law, human rights etc but continues wine and dine and trade dictators from Vietnam, China etc who continues oppress the peoples of those countries brutally on a daily basis. With respect to doing things for oneself, we have done this for thousands of years when we fended off Chinese and Mongol invasions of our land. But the world today is not like before when people of common race and beliefs unite to eject a foreign enemy. The people of Vietnam have no ballistic weapons except their voice to fight against a brutal enemy of their kind who invaded them from the north with help of communist Russia and China. Note that America did not invade Vietnam but intervened to support Southern Vietnamese from an invasion by northern communists. The voice of the suffering people of Vietnam can be amplified by democrats in the West to put pressure on communists in Vietnam to stop oppressing people who's only desire is to have what you enjoy everyday and that is Freedom. Freedom of assembly, self determination and speech as enshrined in the universal declaration of human rights to which Vietnam is a signatory. The world today is interconnected as never before and I accept your premise of self reliance but sometimes one needs a bit help if only to minimize the numbers that has to be sacrificed. I am quite sure that without a bit help from non blacks and the international community, the civil rights movement in America nor the Anti Aparthied movement in South Africa would have costs many more lives and taken much longer to be realized. I don't consider you nor the "foreign" tourists to be outsiders. I think in the interconnected world today, we beginning to realize that we are truly 'One' and that concepts that were made up to separate us are crumbling everyday, do you not agree? "The Western tourists you see are, more often than not, well-traveled, well-educated and politically astute"...maybe some are and some are not but I rather not hazard a guess on the percentage.

I am going back to Vietnam in 16 years (I'm 22 now lol)! The first time I went was when I was 6 years old and you can imagine how much things have changed. I don't really remember much though. Vinh Long is my mom's hometown as well so I was smiling like an idiot when I heard you say its your hometown! So many places and things have changed within the past 10+ years, its crazy. My family and I are planning to head back in the beginning of 2016 after I graduate uni so its going to be a blast! After watching this video of yours, I took down quite a lot of notes for future reference and has thus been an inspiration. ;) I told my dad about the resort you stayed at in Da Nang so lets hope we get a chance to stay there for a few days on our month long visit! I absolutely adore the resort and Da Nang itself. I think its one of my favorite places in Vietnam right now! This video inspired me so much. I am definitely more excited now for this trip back home. Sooooooo.... you went to Da Nang. Stayed at a 5-star resort hidden away in the hills. "Got to know yourself" on the beach. Then felt a real connection with your heritage? What am I missing here.

Thank you for the beautiful video and your insights. I first landed in Da Nang on Christmas Day 1968, and soon learned that I was on the wrong side. Vietnam had an awesome beauty, and it was the first time in my life I had seen such breathtaking vistas. I plan to go back this December, and am interested in living in Vietnam and doing some good.

Oh yeah, I also stayed in Ha Long Bay during the off tourist season. Words cannot say how much I love the bay of Dragons. You should talk about an Ancient Vietmamese religeon. Daughters from heaven came to earth. One of them tasted some dirt from the ground. She became earth bound and could not return to heaven. She fell in love with a Dragon but he had to return home for a while. He gave her a circular green stone as a token or promise that he would one day return for her. I grew up in Linda Vista San Diego California. I always wondered why the Vietnamese people that lifve ther had these stones around their neck. Now I know. They are waiting for the great Dragon of the world to return. Today most Vietmamese do not even know the story. I found this story in college while reserarching Ancient religeons. Looking at Ha Long Bay, I feel like the Dragon will rise one day like God Zilla did in the Japanese movies. Ha Ha Ha. Perhaps the Chinese stole that idea from the Vietmamese. Anyhow, for those who want to know Vietmam before the communist reign, Do the research. Its a beautiful story. It made me appriciate a people who really have lost touch with who they are. Before communism, the Vietmamese had a rich and beautiful history complete with their own faith and beliefs. Perhaps I can help some of them reconnect. Maybe its not my place. But I do know that I love the Vietmamese people. I love their culture, I LOVE THEIR FOOD.

Nicely done especially the editing and music choices. I spent a few days in Ho Chi Minh City last year. I hooked up with some Vietnamese people and actually rode on the back of their motorbike. Never thought I would have the courage to do that for a few days. Next time I need to travel north and see more of the beautiful green country. Thanks for sharing.
