Well, at an interview around the semi-final, when asked whether he expected to win first place, Dimash had a very serious face. He answered, “I would rather someone else take first place. Everyone here has so much more experience than I. I’m just a young kid. Actually I feel I’ve already won. I was unknown here and now I have a huge following. That to me is better than winning first place. Well, something like that. I’d have to find the actual interview for a literal translation. Yes, at the Bastau concert, he performed Diva Dance again, this time incorporating and nailing that infamous bar with eleven notes that was digitally manipulated in the movie.

Thanks for the reaction and introducing your friend to Dimash - the more the merrier!! Loved your Dimash impersonation attempts - sorry not even close except for John's low note. An aside - the ear buds serve a perpose......the left plays the music - eliminates the outside noise, the right is to block out all outside noice - but you can't hear your own voice - that is why Dimash usually removes the right one! Love how he shows the songs emotions - he does it with everything he sings!! Don't forget - he also plays many instuments.

About Dimash not winning the contest: This has not been a competition where the winner is chosen by a group of professional judges or musicians (Dimash would win by far, if that was the case, there’s no doubt in my mind about it) but when people vote, a lot of other factors, like the memory they have with the singer’s songs, cultural familiarity, personal interest in the singer etc. carry considerable weights. I am not going as far as to say people who voted were biased towards a local versus a foreign singer, but having all these factors in mind, I think it totally makes sense why he won the second position.

I had a blast doing the react with these two. A lot of people say that it was a bad into to his singing but we agreed at having it as a common ground since i have very little experience with their usual music inclinations. Sorry for the late reply i had to catch a flight back to Texarkana the next morning and had bad signal and of course none on the plane lol.
