So many people complaining about the keyboard cable. I've a Logitech G513 and love it. No hassles to keep it charged and there's zero delay in typing speed. Just because it's wireless doesn't mean it's "better". Great video and clean setup. I've just purchased the Bamboo standing desk by Jarvis because of your video.

An amazing office environment, no doubt. Clean....maybe too clean. In my world, a clean desk isn't getting much done. My office has piles of paperwork, stacks of storage drives, many video cameras, stage lights, audio equipment, stationary supplies, boxes of cables, photo albums, thousands of software-data-audio discs, printer, surveillance monitors, gig rosters, etc, etc, etc..... Even my sofa and chairs have to be cleared of stuff when a client drops by. There is simply nowhere to put all these things. I'm not raggin' on ya....in fact, I'm envious. You designed a great space. It's just not my reality.

I'm totally going to have to steal this setup -- moving in a couple of months and will finally have my home office for developing, video editing, and art. One thing I'm still worried about though is going Ultrawide - but I might be able to make it work with my workflow :D Thanks David!
@Jebble3473 жыл бұрын
How did the ultra wide treat you? Really scared of letting go my secondary screen!
@ZaneBlalock3 жыл бұрын
@@Jebble347 so funny story. I got this monitor... But I still kept 1 extra monitor lol. Then later added a third - but the third monitor is to a second system altogether that I connect my mouse and keyboard via synergy. The super ultra wide is amazing. But for my needs, I still needed 1 extra monitor (streaming, etc. While the primary monitor is running an application in full screen mode) When I edit video, the second monitor is used for references, notes, etc. While DaVinci pro is maximized. When programming, I typically have vs code maximized or nearly maximized while I run a dev console, remote console, in the other. Could I get by with just the super ultra wide? Yes. But it would still have annoyances when dealing with gaming or full screening. But that's just my use and workflow. Depending on yours, the single monitor can easily be enough.

You should use a coolermaster masterkeys pro s... Multiple colors, super clean and professional and at the same time mechanical heaven. It has cable but the cable is elegant and can be out of the sides of the keyboard, making the setup tidier. For the mouse, there is NOTHING better for productivity than the Logitech MX Master 2S. I have a similar setup and just love it. Best keyboard and mouse combo ever. For monitors tho, I use two Apple LED cinema display 27. They have perfect calibration, are 2K and can be bought for cheap online this days. Way cheaper than the dell and offering more vertical space, which is mandatory for programming.

@WillN2Go15 жыл бұрын
Very smart set-up. Thanks. I had only just found some of your older desk videos, made an endless series of suggestions in the comments. My ego is quite pleased that you (now) agree with me. You've done all of my suggestions and a added a few more. I think if I subscribe to your channel, I can expect you to solve problems I haven't had yet. (The keyboard/ mouse pad just over the edge? great solution!) Monitor height? I 'know' it's 'supposed' to be at eye level, but seeing how quickly you've arrived at all the other fixes maybe you've discovered something about monitor height that's a bit more refined than simply 'eye level.' Keyboard: Yeah, I used to love a clicky keyboard. (Just color in that dumb logo with a sharpie. Instead of being annoyed by it, if you ever think about it and see the sharpie marks you'll now feel good about how you got rid of it. I've got hot glue 'pips' on my '1' ';' '-' keys that help me avoid missing them. They look terrible, but are so clever. I also did this with a USB number keyboard, 0,1,3,5,7 and 9. What gives me a kick is how bloody obvious this is and yet no one has done it. I can't imagine any situation where anyone else (except maybe an accountant) can type numbers faster and more accurately.) I've got a MacBook Pro with the 2018 keyboard--the 'hated' keyboard. Keystroke travel. Prior to this I had a 2011 MBPro with that keyboard--the one everyone says they love when they're bashing the 2016-18 keyboard. There's one salient positive to the newer hated keyboard. We transpose letters when we type in two basic ways: either we screw up our i's and e's because we misspell, or we make typing mistakes. I've been typing for more than a few decades (and on everything from a portable Underwood, to IBM Selectric to almost 30 years of computer keyboards). With the newer (hated) MBPro keyboard, I no longer type transposed letters (unless it's a spelling error). The shorter keystroke of the 2018 keyboard is why. Something about the speed of my fingers that made all those mistakes has been solved by this keyboard. I probably have a bad method issue that I could probably have fixed over the years, but I don't think I'm an oddball. On the other side of course are two points, first the preferences people have for a keyboard style-- which can be completely subjective and even wrong( and if wrong are probably not wrong in a way that is important). Secondly, typing on this MacBook Pro keyboard I feel my finger tips more, the shorter travel distance is closer to just drumming your fingertips on a hard table top than any other keyboard I've used. I can still type for hours and hours, never think later 'gosh my fingertips hurt;' it is noticeable. ' I've got as many beefs against Apple for this MacBook Pro as anyone, but on my lap typing board I replaced my loved Logitech K811 with a bluetooth Mac keyboard. (And the sticky keys that stop working? Major freak-out. But blowing out the keyboard with air has solved the problem the two times it's happened to me. Not good that it happens, but easy to fix.)
