Nah it was for rick I think , he didn’t get the role but they loved him so much they created Daryl for him . Merle when they was auditioning I don’t think existed , or he did just his story is different

Okay, you’re half right. They created Daryl just to give them an excuse to go back to Atlanta for Merle. He wasn’t originally a character, but they didn’t think audiences would believe Rick (who had just found his family) would go back and risk his life for Merle. Adding Daryl made it feel as if he had to go back. Then, people grew to love Daryl so much, they gave him character development and kept him.

Most peoples lives were ruined by the apocalypse, but there are people, Like Glenn and Daryl even whose lives actually improved when the world ended. Glenn was in debt, college drop out, living in a cheap 1 bedroom apartment. All he did was play video games and delivered pizzas. He was "a loser" in life but suddenly his navigating skills as a pizza delivery guy makes him the single best Scout in the apocalypse 😂

The walking dead is supposed to be a story centred around a universe where zombies aren’t a thing and the virus has no cure for them to save humanity from, the whole point of the story was that there will be no happy endings, everyone will eventually die and the world will be taken over by the dead inevitably

Hunting for frogs would be the dumbest thing you could do during a zombie apocalypse. For one thing, you're not going to find enough frogs in the daylight hours to feed a large group of people. You hunt them at night, when they're most active; and for that you need a big, bright flashlight so you can spot them by their eye-shine. I don't think shining a spotlight around in the dark is a wise thing to do where zombies are a concern.

I have to say, I find it funny that people get so mad at Lori for doing what she did with Shane. As if anybody else in that situation wouldn’t do that. Nobody’s perfect, and he got her at a vulnerable time. She truly believed she lost her husband, the world was ending, and she needed somebody. It happens in real life too, and I get so irritated when people are so quick to judge when it’s a little unrealistic to believe she should’ve stayed faithful to a husband she just lost.

People also overlook the fact that Shane quite literally thought Rick was dead, we see in his flashback that he tried to get him out and was heartbroken that he couldn’t figure out how to get him out safely while he was still comatose, Shane really cared about Rick and people think he had a dark seeded hatred for him the whole time over Lori when we can see that he developed those feelings for her after the world fell

The thing I love about this show the most is that they do a great job of displaying HUMANITY. The good, bad, the ugly and everything in between...even in a zombie apocalypse. We get so engrossed in the characters that we almost forget it's a zombie series.

I still don't understand why Lori didn't tell him. It's the apocalypse and your husband was in a coma when it happened. She could have talked to him about it in private or Shane could have. They didn't have to have all these looks of "oh shit what do we do" or "How dare you" conversations. It just caused a shit ton of problems that affected not only Rick but also Carl. I hated Lori not because she had sex with Shane (maybe a little bit for the fact she didn't tell Rick) it was the fact that she didn't know where her son was. She walks away and either she gets pissed or something bad happens and then she goes "OH MY GOD CARL BABY WHERE ARE YOU? WHERE IS MY SON?" you should know he is your SON. Also wouldn't it make some sense to at least teach the kids how to protect themselves? What if something happens and they get separated?

This isnt really a spoiler, but if you bought the DVD set they have deleted scenes. And at the last episode they were supposed to come back to the nursing home to check on the "Vatos" but find that the place was overran some how. They say that the vatos were lined up at shot. So deleted scene or not I still think of that as the official canon of that some bigger gang just over took them and killed everyone. Its actually a long deleted scene and surprised it didnt make it int he final .

its always men who cannot see the circumstance, and their brain turns to monkey rage mode when they talk about lori. like there's a reason why this storyline exists; it's supposed to be conflicting and you're supposed to feel sympathy for both lori and shane. obviously getting with your dead husband's best friend is nasty work but the circumstances they're in completely changes things. psychologicaly there's so much happening, you're a single mother with a small child. shane steps up and protects you and cares for your child. y'all bond over the shared loss of rick. it's a man and a woman isolated together in close proximity for a long time. it's inevitable. ppl like to think they have a higher moral compass when observing a situation from afar, and i think it's just arrogant

there's so much lori hate for the wrong reasons. i personally dislike her bc of her flip flop mentality and stupid decisions she makes. obviously getting with your dead husband's best friend is nasty work but the circumstances they're in completely changes things. psychologicaly there's so much happening; you're a single mother with a small child. shane steps up and protects you and cares for your child. y'all bond over the shared loss of rick. even your child begins to perceive shane as a father figure-like guardian. it's a man and a woman isolated together in close proximity for a long time. it's inevitable. humans seek out connection, comfort and safety. all these ppl saying '"i'd never do that", i'll just say ppl like to think they have a higher moral compass when observing a situation from afar, but i think that's just arrogant 🤷‍♀

It's always interesting seeing people's reactions to the Merle Dixon's scenes, of course at first with distrust and a profound distaste with his racism, but this intro scene to episode 3 still reminds you that that's a human being chained to a rooftop, and you can't not think about how that must feel regardless of who you are.

Merle was created for the show. Norman Reedus auditioned for Merle but they cast Michael Rooker - and created the role of Daryl specifically because they loved Reedus so much. Honestly, 80-90% of the characters on the series are from the comics.
