"Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill." Wow, I didn't know that and I love Underworld. That would have been awesome to see. I would really love to see Wesley Snipes reprise the role as Blad and Mahershala Ali can play his son. The time-line could fit with as much time has passed. The doctor could be his mother. She and Blade could have parted before she knew she was pregnant and only after he reached adolescents did she seek out Blade to help raise him after he started showing Vampire tendencies. Which could have happened after the third movie which is why we wouldn't have seen it. Blade raised him and trained him in martial arts.

@@MarkSpizzle I don't think Wesley Snipes would be ok with that. But it depends on how they had him cast not quite as secondary as the previous Whistler played. It's a role he made iconic, like Sylvester Stallone did for Rambo. It's him; even if Rambo had a son when first introduced Sylvester Stallone Rambo would be a main character alongside the new person that would take over the role then they would turn the role over completely. I feel our black actors should be given the same respect as others in a role they made famous. I would love to see see Wesley Snipes return on his terms out of respect for a character he brought to life.

Seemed to me that the pure blood vampires all got soft living in luxury and let Frost handle all the dirty work. Which grew to him having the backing of all the soldiers so the pure bloods had to let him on the council and were afraid of him, as it shows in how they behave around him. So it was too late by the time this movie takes place for them to really do anything except make idle threats. The beginning of Marvel's golden age on film with the first character of the comics to have a box-office smash. Also the first, real kick-a** Vampire movie. From the darkside of the comics, inspired by blaxploitation films (a la' Shaft & Blacula) and debuting 50 years ago in 'The Tomb of Dracula' comics as one of Drac's many foes. Following his first mainstream appearances on Spider-Man:The Animated Series (1994-1998). This was the 2nd Rated-R movie for a Marvel character after The Punisher (1989). Prior to being casted as Blade, Wesley Snipes as actor/producer was involved with developing Black Panther (at the time, a Sony property). Frustrated with how to make BP, he received the BLADE script and said yes to it. Snipes had never known that Blade or Black Panther were both from Marvel. The blending of everything in this film is phenomenal. The soundtrack from TVT records is fire and the PS video game from 2000 was cool too. The Blade trilogy was written by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel,The Dark Knight Trilogy). Part 2 (2002) is great and Part 3 (2004) is very controversial. At the end of the day, it's nice to see more of this movie be really loved and appreciated as it deserves.

That nightclub scene may be my favorite intro to any movie ever. blade is the most fun vampire film of all time to me, Mel. You'll enjoy it EVEN more on future rewatches. It really is a classic. Wesley Snipes will always be Blade to me

In the comics they always explained that the New York heroes never crossed paths or into each other's worlds simply because they were in parts of New York, Spiderman in Queens, Daredevil in Hells Kitchen, Luke Cage in Harlem, only on certain occasions would they meet. Often because of Kingpin. In the 90s animated series however, Spiderman did get involved with Blade because Morbius the living vampire got on Blade's radar.

Fun fact: The character Whistler was created for this movie however he made his first ever Marvel appearance (though slightly different) in ‘96 in the Spider-Man animated series, it was also the first time Blade was ever given half vampire powers where Spider-Man and Blade team up against Morbius. Before that in the comics Blade was still half vampire but had no powers just an immunity to vampire bites and vampirism. The movie then had the same powered Blade as the show 2 years later and then a year later in Spider-Man comics Blade would be bitten by Morbius and gain the same powers (a nod to the TV show where Blade first had powers with the story using the same 3 characters)

This movie aired on TV way before you could fast forward /skip commercials. It holds a special place for me; even as a kid of 10/11 I adored vampires / dark movies... in a conservative town and conservative family. My grandma didn't get it, but even so she would record this movie for me while I was at school, and she watched it with me, even though none of it made sense to her. Blade will forever equate that memory to me. My grandmother's acceptance of who I was and what I was interested in, without judgement or condescension.

0:43 "Then the dude must be blacker than Wes Snipes, 'cause I don't see him." The thing I love about the tension between Frost and Dragonetti is that Frost is right, but Dragonetti and the rest of the house are so tied to tradition that they can't adapt. Deacon wants to preserve vampire kind and increase their power in future years, while Dragonetti wants to uphold the status quo because it's how things have always been.
