Criminally underappreciated. It's a Marvel superhero movie made by Guillermo Del Toro with Ip Man and Hellboy in it and it's every bit as cool as that sounds like it should be. It's like a gift to fandom that far too much of fandom doesn't know about.

I was in film school when this came out and believe me, the movies that came out in the early 2000’s that changed everything were, The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Movie theaters were begging people to not try the stunts at home. I still see people today trying to drift and crashing.

I will forever stand by the notion that Luke Goss is grossly underrated as an action-based, dramatic actor. His chops as Nomak were great but his role as the elf prince in Hellboy II is nothing short of classic. He needs to be brought into the MCU or DC or John Wick universes. Something. He deserves more than his B movie status.

This is a badass Sequel from visionary filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro. Originally, Morbius was going to be the main villain in the film, but it was changed to the Reapers instead. The fight scenes are CGI which is impressive, as people complain that the fight scenes look like a video game.

On this rewatch, I didn't mind the CGI fight scenes. It allowed them to meet their vision for the fight scenes. On the other hand, it really made the middle part of the movie stand out in a bad way, especially the sewer sequence. It made the Bloodpack seem like seem like normal humans, instead of these elite trained superhuman vampires that can leap several feet in the area and cling to walls, and know martial arts. All they did was walk/run around and shoot.

John’s range of horrified expressions stands on its own. Roxy’s comments are pure gold. I know it was done to keep from being blocked for excessive gore, but I am grateful that the worst grossnesses were blurred out.
