Borat Movie Description:
Outrageous situations occur when Borat, a popular reporter (Sacha Baron Cohen) from Kazakhstan, comes to the United States to film a documentary on what makes America a great nation. Along the way, he manages to offend just about everyone he meets, fall in love with actress Pamela Anderson, and set forth on a cross-country journey to make her his wife.
Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (Kazakh / Russian: Борат) (also stylized as BORДT, or simply Borat) is a 2006 mockumentary black comedy film directed by Larry Charles and starring Sacha Baron Cohen. Baron Cohen plays the leading role of Borat Sagdiyev, a fictional Kazakhstani journalist who travels through the United States to make a documentary which features real-life interactions with Americans. Much of the film features unscripted vignettes of Borat interviewing and interacting with real-life Americans who believe he is a foreigner with little or no understanding of American customs. It is the second of four films built around Baron Cohen's characters from Da Ali G Show (2000-2004): the first, Ali G Indahouse, was released in 2002, and featured a cameo by Borat; the third, Brüno, was released in 2009; and the sequel to Borat, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, was released in 2020.
Borat was released on 2 November 2006, in both the United Kingdom and United States, by 20th Century Fox. The film was very well received, both critically and commercially; made for $18 million, it earned $262 million worldwide. Baron Cohen won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, while the film was nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. Borat was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and for Writers Guild of America Award in the same category. Controversy surrounded the film prior to its release, and after the film's release, some participants spoke against, and even sued, its creators. It was denounced by the government of Kazakhstan and was banned in almost all Arab countries.
In September 2020, a sequel, titled Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, was officially confirmed to have been secretly filmed, completed, and screened, a few weeks after Baron Cohen was spotted driving a pick-up truck in character as Borat around Los Angeles. The sequel was released on 23 October 2020, by Amazon Studios.

Baron Cohen has been sued multiple times since the original Borat film, and he hasn't lost a case yet. Participants were asked to sign a “STANDARD CONSENT AGREEMENT” prepared by “One America Productions Inc.” The document describes a “documentary-style film” designed “to reach a young adult audience by using entertaining content and formats.” The agreement goes on to release the production company from a list of 16 potential claims. The waivers encompass claims of defamation, invasion of privacy, and infringement of publicity rights-and they do so in unusual detail.

Sacha Baron Cohen is so incredibly talented, he doesn't just "stay in character" he becomes the character. It's a skill others in his profession could only wish for. His characters are so elaborate and over the top. They're designed in such a way to provoke an extreme reaction and/or response. It almost gives an open license for whoever he is around to speak exactly what is on their mind, due to ultra confident and expressive characters he plays. It's truly a gift. Borat/Sacha, received 20 wins & 34 nominations at various awards shows. In real life, he's a very funny, smart, caring, and articulate individual, with a pinch of his characters querks for good measure. Furthermore, if you can believe it after his performance in Borat, he's Jewish, as are both his parents. He rarely speaks in public out of character, however, when he does, it's usually quite memorable. Khazhakstan was annoyed with how Borat portrayed their country, however, when their tourism boomed, they decided to go along with it. Highly recommend any of his other films, as well as some interviews and speeches he's done (see below). One of the absolutely brilliant things about Borat was just how polite ordinary people are when confronted with absolute absurdity, the character came off so genuine everybody was more concerned with being welcoming and friendly than anything else. I'd highly recommend watching all the extras and behind the scenes stuff, really helps you understand which bits were staged as parts of the movie and which parts are genuine reactions from real people, aswell as the trouble they got into trying to make all this stuff. Sadly the sense of humour isn't really appreciated by mainstream society anymore but since it's release it has become a massive cult hit. Highly recommend Ali g to anyone who hasn't seen it before too, aswell as The Dictator.

Borat was one of the, if not the single biggest comedy of the entire 00s. It was a cultural touchstone and it's still referred to constantly. Phrases like "very nice" and "my wife" are basically common sayings. Borat is as recognizable a movie character as Indiana Jones or Darth Vader. Cohen wanted to do a Mercury movie that celebrated his life, whereas the band wanted one focusing on his death and how they carried on after him. Case in point, one of the scenes he pushed for that the band shot down was a recreation of Mercury's habits during concerts where he'd do a line of coke, bang a groupie, and do about 5-7 songs in a row and then rinse and repeat till the concert is over.😂

The jokes the humor coach was teaching were of course elementary, but it was designed for those who do not understand American (or Western) humor, so you have start with the basic, old, cliche jokes to establish what are the fundamental things that are considered funny. Conan O'Brien level string dance and tiger roars are the more advanced stuff you learn on your own when you pop open a brew or light a blunt while watching late night talk shows.

It's funny cause there's a man who hates Borat and Sasha, so he made a film about a tourist mistakenly finding his way to Kazakhstan and enjoying himself. In an interview, he showed off his life-sized doll in the image of Borat with devil horns and said "We're civilised people, we're nothing like the movie made us out to be. We're not like filthy gypsies." So he ended up proving the movie right.

Sasha aka Borat aka Ali G aka 1000000 characters. He had an HBO show called "The Ali G Show" where he did all these characters and 90% of all the shots they thought Borat was a real person and were unaware that they were being made fun of, there was lawsuits and all that. Maybe that will make you laugh even harder lmaooooo. Also, Sasha is Jewish so his jokes are based on middle east stereotypes of Jewish hate. Dude is a genius, and there is a part 2 to Borat and it was crazier.

During the making the production team got called by the cops 92 times At that time the movie got a record for being sued 7 times, all settled or dismissed.
