@@GardeningatDouentza Disa Trata x aurata (yellow) and a red Disa uniflora and Disa draconis which apparently is from dry sandy slopes and doesn't need the running water treatment and in fact needs a dry summer dormancy! So wish me luck! The growers here grow them in 100% sphagnum moss....not sure if I'll follow suit?

@@helloplantlovers Lots of growers have success with sphagnum. I see it in groups all the time. Nice haul. Looking forward to seeing them appear in videos, Matthew

I love Pleiones! Before I even got interested in orchids, let alone terrestrial orchids, I bought some pseudobulbs of them, planted them in my garden in muddy-clay type mud/soil, and left them there essentially. I’m in the UK, and it’s been 5 years since I planted them and they still flower every year! I don’t know how they don’t rot away in our muddy wet winters, perhaps because they’re on an embankment, but yes they do surprise me every year!

Well that is amazing! Well done!

Am I the only one that thinks the leaves are attractive? I might look at adding one of these to my collection. Thanks for the video, gives me confidence to try new things as a beginner.

The leaves ARE very handsome! AND, once you get the dormancy thing right - which took me three years (!!) - they are super easy so go for it!

I, who watched only a few seconds of the video: "no way, you are the only one who like those "leaves", they are stumps! "😂😂😂😂

Ooooh, now you’ve done it….. I’ll have to start looking for these beauties! I suppose the trick is to plant several bulbs in different stages of growth to assure you get blooms every year? Ill look forward to seeing your different colored blooms next year. Do all the blooms look the same? Love the lip on those!
@helloplantlovers2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching - and yes! - having bulbs at various growth stages would ensure you had blooms every year - I'm working on it! Most of the flower forms are similar, the exact size of the petals and lips can vary.

I have to ask, you said in another video that once they flower, the bulb dies off and then produce bulbils which go on to flower the next year. This has not been my experience as far as I’m aware, was this information correct? Thanks!
