What would you do with this Jeep YJ if you owned it?

Jurassic Jeep!

I probably would like to put a hardtop (provided it's affordable) and make the interior comfortable (new seats, weatherproof floor mats, etc.); were carpeted floor an option for Wrangler? 😅 I also have this want to put a Jurassic Park decal on the doors😅

Keep it stock! See what you can do offroad with stock suspension. And keep the wheels, they look like period correct upgrades. For the interior, just some mats, new seats and seat belts. Can’t wait to see what you do, I have an all original ‘95 Wrangler Rio Grande.

Had a bunch of jeeps and I LOVE YJ’s. The 4 cylinder actually has enough torque to make a super light vehicle seem fun! My advice is go hard top. They’re so easy to pop on and off and for the times you went a roof it’s waaaay better. The new seats will make it way better, it was the best upgrade I did. I had Bestop seats and they were great, and the brown “spice” color would look great on the black!!! Lastly, when you get a nice low rust YJ don’t sell it.

I know for sure that I wouldn't bother with a rear seat...These are fun two seaters at heart! And those seatbelts back there are...Dicey.

I agree and maybe there is room for some sort of utility box in that space.

Jurassic park motor pool paint job. Simple soft top since you are in SoCal. Front seats only.
@jimsakai3 ай бұрын
Mostly I’d fix the interior and make it more comfortable or you’ll never want to drive it much of anywhere. Clean up the wheels and put on a new soft top. Paint? Nah. Buff and wax. There, done. And then take it to RADwood!
@markadger2 ай бұрын
No angry eye, no back seat, no paint and definitely cleanup the wheels.

Had a 97 TJ, the soft top had so much wind noise I turned the radio volume up or down depending if the Jeep was stopped or driving.

Great video. I have a 92 YJ as well but mine is way more crusty but runs good and has AC that works. Just an idea for seats. I saw videos where others install cavalier seats in there yj so I tried it and it worked they bolted right to the seat risers. I think I pulled mine out of a 2000 2 door cavalier. The 2 door seats fold over where the 4 doors don't. They are very comfortable and cheap. Just wanted to pass along.
@HelloRoad3 ай бұрын
Thanks!! Oh yeah I did read about Cavalier / Sunfire seats. I’ll have to see if they still pop up at the local junkyard

Personally, I’d fix the interior with spay on bedlinder; just to have it easily maintainable & for longevity of the floor pans.
@puntomk1uk643 ай бұрын
I'd definitely replace the seats and top if it was mine, and put a rubber floor mat or carpet in there. The tan hood sounds pretty cool if you're doing tan seats and door panels too, a grey interior and black hood would be my choice but its all personal preference. Probably wouldn't spend the money on a back seat, if you're not going to use it otherwise you're dumping dollars into something for nothing kind of thing! Wheels would look way better for a good clean I like the style of them, maybe get some centre caps for them they look a bit bare without.
@DragPakMerc3 ай бұрын
Tan soft top and seats. Wheels are fine, but replace the missing center caps. Get some real mirrors. Bed liner on the floorboards and call it good.

if you leave the floor bare metal, maybe at least sand and paint the rusted floor pans to protect them?
@kcm7323 ай бұрын
no back seat, but tan hard top is my preference. I like the stock wheels, maybe paint them a tan or dark bronze color to go with the top. and I know you mentioned something about the floor but a rubber or vinyl floor insert would be good for sure
@jfisher2370Ай бұрын
My 94 was mostly rust free when I got it in 2017 but had surface rust on driver floor from paint scuffing. I cleaned it & used rust inhibitor paint then Rhino lined entire interior floor, put down Bed-Rug mat with Rugged Ridge rubber floor mats. 2nd, It looks like you only need the turn signal selector lever which is literally a pull in fix & inexpensive if the components are still in the steering column. Lastly, I'd go with tan seats & spice color Bimini or Targa top - many (not all) tops require connection to roll bar pieces you're missing but easy to pick up at salvage yard. And "angry eyes" are a NEVER for YJ or any Jeep IMO.

@Hillbillypunk3 ай бұрын
If no one is riding back there, that back seat just takes up space. I wouldn't mine a hard top on mine, but i also live in SoCal, and it's nice to have the optional roof. Takes a friend or two to get a hard top on and off, and mofos want like 3,000 for one anyway. I got a new soft top on ebay for like $120 and it fit perfectly with the stock rails. Kinda looks like you're missing the bow?

Greetings from Glenn in Cleveland! How did a California car get such a crunchy Chassis? I personally like a black and tan color scheme. As far as the top goes, it takes two people to take a hard top off, then you have to store it somewhere. I tend to like factory original cars. A good polish and cleaning go a long way! Looking forward to this series!

Thanks!!! Yeah the undercarriage is a bit grungy, but it's mainly just surface rust. I think the car spent a couple years on the east coast, but I'm not sure...

As for the ones on the windshield, mine are all different and loose and stupid too. I got my '92 YJ from the original owner (who was my aunt) like that. I think they're just notorious for coming loose, cause since I've had mine (since, April?) I've had to tighten and or replace a few of them, and they just come loose again. I'm gonna try and dab of silicone on them when I'm not so lazy lol
