I first saw Hellbound in the theatre with my mate Jude. The opening music, which I have on compact disc now, made me shit my pants. That's how you open a sequel people, "Quick recap of events then Christopher Young's Brown Trousers Music because, buckle up it's going to be a ride. Bit of a downhill ride but hey, we are going to Hell after all."

I was supposed to spend a week in Zermatt last summer, already had everything reserved, but then there was a downturn at work, and I took the safe route and cancelled. Agree. Pinhead works best in the background, occasionally emerging from the shadows. Much creepier. When they put him front and centre as a slasher villain, it lost me… and the cenobites in No.3 are utterly ludicrous. Bloodlines has its problems, but it’s far better than Hell on Earth.

Disagree with your Hellraiser III assessment. The fact that they explicitly say in the movie that Pinhead's soul was stolen makes the whole film a parody of horror at the time. Franchises stripped of their original horror in favor of their marketability. It's goofy fun but I'm pretty sure it was winkingly meant to be.

Well done! I largely feel the same about the first few sequels, with Hellbound being the clear best of the lot. Any thoughts on the recent remake/reboot on Hulu? I actually was surprised with how much it DIDN'T suck; some issues abound for sure, but after so many awful entries, it felt pretty close to being.... well, an 'acceptable' Hellraiser film that had more good than bad elements on offer.

@@Jean-PaulMichell I have 2 more videos coming few weeks apart, one dealinh with parts 5-8 and the other with 9-11, including the reboot. Is Channard really betrayed by Julia, or did she give him exactly what he wanted skipping the "hesitation" part?
@InAwe90002 күн бұрын
Yeah I get your point. I always interpreted it so that Channard wanted to "see and know", but not to experience it himself, and therefore made someone else open the box so he could observe. I thought he was voyeur and a knowledge seeker, not someone who goes through it, but that is only my subjective view, you might be on to something.

The physical copy in the video is a Ciardi, I have the Longfellow as well. Then there were I think 3 modern translations I found online, but I cannot remember the names of the translator. Whatever I could find that would fit the movies.
