3:25 - this is clearly the most badass moment ever because it shows Major's sheer willpower. Unlike Alucard and Anderson who chose to sacrifice their humanity to survive out of despair, Major willingly refused. He knew about the power it could give him but he will lose himself. He would rather die as a human than live as a monster. He values his humanity more than anything else. That's why he hates and loathes Alucard. This shows that the Major is stronger than Alucard and Anderson

The Major is one of my favourite villains of all time, and I will say one thing when it comes to humanity. We have the capacity to be kind, compassionate, honourable and to do great things, but we also have the capacity to do unspeakable acts of cruelty as well. But you know despite our history and despite the troubles and difficulties that we face currently, I do still have hope for humanity and I do think we will strive forward with courage and confidence into the future. Maybe I'm to optimistic or maybe I'm just a good man that wants to see people live in harmony. It doesn't matter what you're political beliefs are or whether you're Muslim or Christian or whatever we are all human. And there are stories throughout history of remarkable feats that we have achieved. Stories of remarkable people that have done the impossible, stories of valour, heroism, kindness, compassion and a duty to protect the innocent. When we work together I think we can accomplish a lot of things based on mutual respect for each other and for mankind. There is good in this world mr Frodo, and it's worth fighting for. (I couldn't resist adding that quote, I love Lord Of The Rings.) Anyway I'm sorry for the long comment but I find these discussions fascinating to talk about, great video mate. I just found your channel and I'm going to see what other videos you have. Take care and greetings from Australia.

Your talk about the nature of what it is to be a vampire in hellsing is so undermentioned when people talk about it, one of to me the most standout lines is "Life given is so much more than life taken". That Seras gets so much more out of taking one life into herself, than Alucard could get in an entire slaughter fest beyond the number of revivals. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for the major himself, maybe if what we need to push back demonic forces is to be even bigger monsters...Well...Oof, that's a nutkick view of humanity.
@tau-57945 күн бұрын
The three major factions in Hellsing each embody different ways to defeat a monster. Hellsing uses monsters of its own, fighting fire with fire. Iscariot submits to the authority of God, acknowledging the weakness of humanity is not enough to defeat demons. And Millennium is the cumulative efforts of a single man, with nothing but his intellect and willpower driving him, submitting to no supernatural power, only his own human self as the catalyst for all his accomplishments.

Whats ultimately funny is the Major is a cyborg. Hes not fully a machine as he still bleeds and needs to eat. He can still taste etc. However, his cybernetics serve to keep him alive and functioning. Thats it, no super strength, no pinpoint accuracy, nothing. His abilities were the exact same as a human. Whats more disturbing is outside of him the only people who put Alucard down was Van Hellsing. Thats the darkest thing to think of as ive read the og Dracula and all three of the men who hunted Dracula(Alucard) were good men of their era.

4:20 - a choice, that's what makes us humans. Monster can't choose. A vampire can't choose to stop drinking blood because he will die. A human can choose. But once you embrace this unholy power you're not a human anymore, you lose the ability to choose

They made a similar comparison in Netflix’s Castlevania during the conversations in the members of Dracula’s Court where it’s brought up several times that the logistics of taking over the entire world is harder than it needs to be because vampires are parasites at their very core. They might be strong and have magic and looks but humanity is built to outlast them and therefore they have more to look forward to, namely because their existence is not defined nor predicated by needing to keep a host around. How strong can vampires truly be, in that case? Only as strong as humans let them.

I really don't get it. It looks like Hellsing Ultimate is a niche anime nowadays. Why so? It's fantastic!

Time, there are a ton of classics from the 80s and 90s I'm sure a lot of people think the same way about but they're not currently running or being talked about cause they had their heyday. Not even the greatest of us can compete with time or death. Thanks for watching :)

another thing that should be mentioned is that according to their backstories, Alucard took the blood of his executed men, while the major was offered the blood, and theres a big difference between the 2 as shown between Alucard and Seras

About time that I find someone other than me thinking about murderers are basically human not inhuman. Though I will confess, I see it in a *misanthropic* viewpoint. Literally condemning *humanity* for being what they call *inhumanity.*

Really good commentary! Also kinda neat as a way to show that despite embracing one's humanity being an aspirational thing, doing so doesn't automatically make you good or right.

Frankly this is one of the things I reject about the "humanist" (and I put the "" since I don't think I'm going to describe really aplies to it) of we has a human beings are soemthing so incredibly special and unique in the universe. Sometime ago part of us where conviced, no... they KNEW that the earth was the center of a finite universe that was made by an all powerfull, all knowing God that made us in his image, now we know that is false but... I'm starting to realice that a loot of people still believe that humanity is the center of the universe.
@bbqtime5735 Жыл бұрын
@@Nightmare704RY absolutely. Treating "humanity" as some all-encompassing objective good to strive for is what leads to villains like The Major, whose only "positive" trait is that he is excruciatingly human and refuses to be anything but.

The major is indeed a bad man . A bad BUT VERY WELL WRITTEN man. Kouta Horano crafted humanity's evil and the evil of rhe devil between Alucard and the najor. Beautifully crafted video dude.
@riiddisbuk249611 ай бұрын
I am misanthropic enough to throw my own humanity away if it means gaining power. 99.9% misanthropic in fact. But in a world where there are approximately 8 billion humans, the difference between 0% faith in humanity and 0.1% is believing in 8 million other people. I would hunt down the scourge of the world with my inhumanity just to perserve the 8 million, regardless of their gratitude or ingratitude.

@riiddisbuk249611 ай бұрын
One more thing I will say is that from how The Major defined himself as a human, I'm surprised that you didn't bring up Anderson being "human" despite having inhuman capabilities. After all, Alucard went out of his way to call Anderson human. But on an ending note, I depise human impotence to the point where I would choose power over humanity. If it can help more people, gladly. If it can destroy those evil like The Major, gladly. Humanity is but an inconvienent impotence that achieves so much less than I beg God for. Especially if it hinders what I mentioned about helping those deserving and destroying those deserving. THAT is why I prefer power.

@@jonathansibrian695 For a moment, I thought you mistaken call me Anderson for Alucard. Eh. At any rate, it's just a realization I had over time to the point where when I went back to watching Alucard vs Anderson, I realized I had plenty in common with them =/ I'd rather play a game with hacks on the hardest difficulty than play normally on the easiest difficulty. Just to prove that what I desire is overwhelming power.
@tau-57945 күн бұрын
Anderson is human because he still has his human soul and human will. He's modified and enhanced with nanomachines and all sorts of other secret Vatican science but those are all human creations, merely tools to further his goal of slaying monsters and killing heathens.
