I think that Moxxie told Blitz about angelic weapons after the whole fight with Striker and Blitz forgot about that detail, up to the episode where Stolas was kidnapped and got heavily injured. There's a whole hierarchy. Imps and hellhounds are at the bottom of it. I guess that they have slightly similar lifespan as humans. I think the explanation of a sinner's reaction when they arrive in hell is probably being saved for either Alistair's backstory or Vaggie's backstory.
