Stolas doesn't really love his wife, maybe tried to in the past, but he loves his daughter with all his heart more than his wife. The wife, Stella, however, doesn't love either and is more concerned about status and image than love for her family.

Given the societal aspects we've seen (or had described), the marriage is pretty much guaranteed to be analogous to the "traditional" aristocrat model...namely that love doesn't really enter into the rubric, and is more a bonus when it blossoms in such pairings. This is indirectly brought up several times in this episode, starting with the line from the lullaby where Stolas states that he, "...thought that love would be fun...", followed by the fact that Stella appears to be more upset that he slept with an imp (one of the lowest social groups), than the fact that he cheated on her. What really brought it home however was when he was trying to explain things to Octavia. Even without completing his statements, it's clear that if there ever was true affection between him and Stella, it's long since evaporated. "I haven't been ha..." "We weren't in..." It doesn't take much to fill in the blanks he left, but his love for Octavia? That's as real as it ever was.

Clarification of something though: The wife did not care that Stolus cheated on her, she only cared that it was with an imp (the lowest species of demons, the species that the characters that work for I.M.P are, they have their own city and are usually slaves or something) which according to her is an “embarrassment” because their family is of very high class, but imps are again, the lowest species of demon. (Imps are the ones with the black and white striped horns and are usually red btw) Kinda makes it even more fricked up if you think about it-

Stolas TRIED to make the relationship work but he was unable to do so because it's implied it was a political/arranged marriage 3. Stella and Octavia aren't close...at all. Octavia was more upset of the possibility that her father would leave HER rather than the mother and the family. Stella is never actually in Octavia's personal pictures besides the family portrait

Stella,Stolas' wife isnt really mad that Stolas is cheating.Notive how she doesn't say "I cant believe you cheated on me" or "I cant believe you slept with another man" she calls out that he slept with an imp.And that its embarrassing to their family that a prince of Hell that would sleep with what's basically a slave.Imps are the lowest of the low and despite them being Hellborns even mortal sinners are considered above them on Hell's hierarchy.Also with how Stolas tries to tell Octavia that he hasn't been happy with Stella and that they weren't ever in love implies that their marriage was arranged and also the possibility that they've cheated on each other before

Stolas never says they were NEVER in love. He says he doesn't have the words to explain the situation, and Octavia herself actually says when she was young, her parents DIDN'T hate each other. I've seen loads and LOADS of people say "Oh they NEVER loved each other, it was an arranged marriage, they were ALWAYS miserable" but there's really NO evidence of that. Sure they don't get along NOW, Stella is very clearly ALL about their image and prestige over being a family, but Octavia SAYS OUTRIGHT it wasn't always like this. We see pictures of them as a family, and there's a very clear transition from happy child to miserable teen in Octavia's life. People seem far too quick to assume just because they're a noble family their marriage was FORCED and they were NEVER happy ever. Rather than the much more clearly established happy family that degraded. Stolas likely CHOSE Stella as his wife, having loved her, "I thought love would be fun" implies he was in love with her at the time, but it wasn't as fun and thrilling as he'd expected, then over the years (shit it COULD be over CENTURIES, Stolas has been around for a while I'm assuming) they drifted further apart as Stella became more and more fixated on being a noble. This combined with Stolas being much more..... flippant, regarding his duties caused additional strain, eventually peaking when she learned he slept with a lowly imp. Octavia's reaction to their fight implies Stella is screaming rather frequently.

It seems more that she's concerned that he slept with a commoner rather than caring about the infidelity. A lot of her rant came off as her being bigoted toward demons who are not aristocrats. a great moment is Stolas being unable to explain hismelf, contrary to how it is in a lot of fictional moments similar to this. Not only does he not know what to actually say, or about why he did what he did, but there's a lot of factors that spurred him. It's implied he and his wife just aren't romantically attracted to each other, or at all,and blitzo did proposition him for the book in the first place as far as we can tell thus far so who knows. Basically, Stolas doesn't have a clear cut explanation for why he slept with BLitzo, why things are rough with his wife, or what he plans to do about it in the future. And thus Stolas can't find the words, there's too many possible reasons.

The story he sings about is his daughters story that she has yet to tell. I think at one point he thought he loved his wife .. They had her and he found out it was possible to love again as a father. Its so sweet.

To answer her question, no, Stolas' wife, Stella, is not okay with him sleeping around. That's why she was yelling at him. Having said that, the prevailing theory does at least paint Stolas in a somewhat more sympathetic light than simply saying he's a filthy cheater. Basically the idea is that they are in a loveless, possibly arranged marriage based on their aristocratic status rather than any actual affection. Being trapped in that toxic relationship is what pushed Stolas to look elsewhere for companionship, while Stella never cared about him, their relationship, or debatably even Octavia, instead only being interested in how their peers see them. This isn't confirmed by any means, but when you look at how they act in both the past and present, it seems likely.

Stolas actually didn't need a body guard, which is why he was so calm and polite when he was being carried away by kidnappers. He just wanted an excuse to invite Blitz so he could have a fun day with his daughter and "friend-with-benefits" after getting stressed out from a fight with his arranged-marriage-wife who didn't seem to like him even before he cheated.

Incase you didn't know, Fizzarolli says he was shipped from "Big Ozzie"s Factory", and in the teaser it shows a few clips in a bar/restaurant called Ozzie's where Moxxie is on stage and Fizzarolli comes back I'm so glad this show has this kind of lore!
