"Blitzo has a lot of defiance in him" that's one of my favorite things about his character. Specifically, he isn't afraid to stand up to the more powerful people in hell. He's not afraid to challenge Bee to the drinking contest, he's not afraid to tell Mammon straight to his face what a hack he is, if he was face to face with Alastor, he wouldn't be scared at all. This probably often to his detriment but I really enjoy that about his character

For the day. And Blitz's current issues stem from fear of loss, fear of being cast off. He thinks he's being used, and he's content with that just enough that he wants to stay in that relationship and test how far Stolas will chase him. It's why Full Moon's gonna be the tipping point when Stolas wants to give Blitz freedom in the relationship, but Blitz will take this as getting thrown out yet again, by a royal yet again.
@fyjkf6 ай бұрын
Their current relationship is still a transaction, so no wonder he's resentful.
@hadrianhexe96036 ай бұрын

But I don't think Stolas KNOWS it began as a transaction. From his little point of view (as far as we know!) his father introduces Blitzo to him, they have a loverly day, then he (presumably) vanishes. We don't even know if he ever worked out he was robbed. Later on its absolutly more transactional, and that completely on Stolas, I agree, but I think one of the things that may really break him later on is if/when he learns that the foundation of that relationship was just another transaction.

What i really appreciate about Helluva boss is they explore some of the cascading effects of development. Blitzø was raised by an abusive father who looked at him as a money making machine, not really caring about his interest or emotions. He grows up to see relationship as transactional, desperate for connection but only on his terms. Also, love the analysis here. We absolutley need to find better ways to raise children without invalidating their feelings or squashing their oppositional traits.

I'd like to see an analysis on how that translates to Blitz's relationship with Loona. He adopted her, and is trying (maybe too hard) to be the "best friend" dad. 'Life not going as planned' is more or less the tagline of Blitzø's life, and it's clear from his demeanor and the devil-may-care facade he relies on how _exhausting_ those endless setbacks have been. He's got resilience in _spades,_ no question, but it's not always coming from a good place -- a lot of his drive to excel and succeed in some form seems to stem from a sense of inferiority and self-loathing, as if he's still trying to prove that he's good enough for the people in his life... and because that sense of self-worth is so corrupted by his old traumas and scars, he struggles to trust people who tell him that he _is_ good enough for them. (He and Fizz feel like two different expressions of impostor syndrome, honestly.)

Not to mention he seems to have had another royal lover that tossed him out, so he keeps getting used, and eventually ruining relationships, like Verosika, by running away before he can get hurt. With Stolas, Blitz DOES love him, he's just afraid that without the Grimoire, he'll be thrown out yet again. This is going to come to a head in Full Moon, but in the end Blitz seems to save Stolas from Andrialphas, or worse. There are a couple things that I noticed about Blitz, and the relationship between him and Stolas (and Striker, later on): Blitz is more or less functionally illiterate. Stolas really, *really* doesn't grasp this, and texts him huge flowery multisyllabic epistles without even realizing how difficult these would be to Blitz to decipher (he responds as best he can, "Get Bevver Swoon"), unconsciously confirming Striker's accusation that the Goetia "always talk over us." The second thing (which still blows my mind) is that there are literally ZERO consequences for the children's...theft spree, I guess? The Goetia parents are genuinely so wealthy as to be completely oblivious!! Third thing: "He can get hurt?" regularly shatters my heart.

While we still don't have full confirmation, I like to think Blitzo's family name is Cash, maybe some imps use the Eastern name order like Hungarians, Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese in the living world do. Thus Blitzo's family would consist of the following: *Cash Blitzo *Cash Loona (adopted daughter) *Cash Buckzo (father, estranged) *Cash Tilla (mother, deceased) *Cash Barbie (sister, estranged) It would explain why the clueless receptionist at the hospital in Sloth thought Blitzo's surname was "O", referring to him as "Mr O".
@AnInsideJoke6 ай бұрын
The receptionist also straight up admitted that she was either mostly illiterate or has very severe dyslexia: "Oh, I can't spell." Cash is actually Blitzo's dad's personal name, and Vivziepop confirmed that Blitzo's surname USED to be Buckzo, but hinted that he may have dropped it around the same time he dropped the pronunciation of the "o" in his personal name (couldn't blame him if he did, having an alliterative name like "Blitzo Buckzo" would have already been bad enough as a non-circus business owner, but pile his issue with this dad on TOP of that....).

17:40 'hypervigilance'. And it's not 'necessarily' a good thing. Blitzo shows hypervigilance a LOT in the series, enough to make my cortisol levels go up. Aside from the times when he's absolutely blackout drunk he's always watching everything.

I always thought it was tragically interesting too that Stolas' dad was willing to pay a lot for the playdate, and Blitz's dad was willing to take him up on it... when it was Fizz. The second its about Blitz, suddenly he accepts trash and then asks Blitz to steal to supplement the money loss. Its so tragically ironic because they could have had money if Blitz's dad would have just admitted that he values Blitz just as much as Fizz and then milked the Goeisha's for cash ;u; but alas he is a terrible father and would rather force his son to steal than take pride in him.
@pantinaprovina426 ай бұрын
I think that may have actually been more about Cash not being willing to risk Fizz getting caught stealing. With Blitz, he didn’t care how much he got up front because he was more than willing to risk Blitz in order to get his hands on the ‘bigger prize’.
@spawnoftrial146 ай бұрын
@@pantinaprovina42 Ooo true i didnt think of that!! I still wonder why he didn't just ask for like a crazy amount of money regardless, but I guess either way no amount would have been worth what he could steal

Stolas was sort of raised in a manner that was used for noble children around the time of the Tudors. In that the child is raised in a private residence by a collection of servents and tutors, but had very few interactions with there parents or children their own age until they were old enough to join their parents in court. This of course was done for their safety as children from nobel households could be used for ransom or even killed off for money. When Blitzo was hired by Paimon, I did get a 'Whipping boy' vibe. The concept of the whipping boy is that it was a male child bought from an impoverished family. This boy is then raised in a noble household as a a sort of friend to the nobel born children. The only difference it that if the noble born child did something that was classified as acting out, then the whipping boy was punished in the noble childs sted.

Georgia...you sound like my Mom does right now! The phrase about lemons is credited to Elbert Hubbard in 1915...back when many people still wandered about on foot. I imagine a hungry person happening upon a lemon tree instead of say, an apple tree...would have a measure of disappointment. Not much baking over a campfire either, so instead of pies one buys or begs some sugar, adds water to the squeezed lemons and the situation improves.

Despite technically being set in the same universe as Hazbin, Helluva has a very different vibe, and takes longer before it starts getting into the heavy stuff, but if you can make it past the first half-dozen episodes or so, the emotional pieces hidden behind the crass humor really start to fall into place.
@helenanilsson56666 ай бұрын
@@SteveMND Yeah, it's probably always going to be a little more crass and more violent than Hazbin. At least I hope so since I actually like the action scenes and the foul language. I feel like the emotional bits are a little bit more earned when they're balanced out with the grit, and it fits the cast better since the closest thing Helluva has to a Charlie character is Millie, and she's a happy little murder champion with berserker tendencies.

Something I haven't seen a lot of people catch is when Cash says "don't you want to help me and your mommy out?" Blitz responds "of course I want to help momma." He doesn't care about helping his dad, and based on his expression and tone of voice, it doesn't seem like him excluding his dad in that statement was even on purpose. Maybe I'm reading into it too much, but I see that as his subconscious letting it slip that he loves his mom but really doesn't give a crap about helping his dad. And for good reason!

I feel like I have mix of Blitz, Stolas, and Fizz's issues. Mostly the first two cause their childhoods, Blitz's self hatred, Stolas's difficulty with socializing and apologizing a lot, etc. But I felt, idk, seen(?) When I saw Fizz's panic attacks and how he tried to fight through them while not feeling good enough for those around him.

If you're gonna do an analysis of him as a grown up, can you highlight the fact that even if he had an horrible father he tries his best to be Loona's dad, despite how many times she pushes him away

I absolutely love the dialogue between kid Fizz and Kid Blitz. 'If you keep talking about pirates I will punch you.' Sounds like what my friends might be thinking. Yeah, I know I fixate on pirates sometimes, sue me ! My parents switched between golden child and black sheep so it was confusing. I became resilient though and I am still healing through my inner critic. I know I have a lot of work to do, but eventually I think I'll find someone who loves me for who I am versus than what I can provide for them.

“Don’t you want to be able to help me and your mama out?” “Of course I wanna help mama!” Notice how Blitz said he wants to help mama, not “you and mama”, showing that he does love his mother but not so much his father (and given what his dad’s shown to be like we can’t really blame him) But it’s a nice little detail to show that

The horse name thing is a play on people’s names. Banana Pudding is how Fizz sees Blitzo. Stapler is a play on Stolas. Biscuit Queen is how Blitzo identifies himself. It’s not the only time in the series Blitz calls himself a queen. This horse thing becomes more obvious on his instagram posts, where he makes horse characters for people in his life. He sees people through these characters.

I'm surprised at the focus on Blitz' good sides, leadership qualities, awareness, ingenuity and ambitions, naturally it's juxtaposed with the negative sides of his upbringing but it's a nice change of pace as many of the fans have focussed on his screwups and toxicity, in favour of his bad way of showing love for his friends and daughter.

As an older man, I'm glad that all that knowledge is readily available to everybody. I would have liked to know more about these subjects when I was a teenager. But in the 80s, it was very different than today, and such knowledge was gate kept, and they wouldn't even tell you the results of tests you did to diagnose any mental disorder or illness.

Can you also do grown up blitz (and Stoles) how their trauma effects them now, fix how blitz has grown op with conditional love where you are valued on what you give as you say, so now he over compensate with Luna who can literally do anything and he still showers her with an insane amount of love sometimes.
@Jikini_cats55136 ай бұрын
Hey, I really liked it but can you also make one about adult blitz, like why he always push everyone away and be some like mean to the people he love. Like moxxie and stolas. Is afraid to die alone. And I think the bond between him and his mother and that she died in the fire he made and also lost his best friend that day is also a big part of him. And the bond between him and his sister. So if want to make a part 2 about blitz I would really like that. And I understand if you want to wait for the next episode because it will be a really big one for stolas and blitz relationship.
