It's a very touching portrait, and President Kennedy's remarks have both a warmth and a touch of sorrow to them. That seems fitting; for all he knew and all he had done, this time in Ireland was like a respite so brief. Look in his face and one can see something quite moving, even severe. Thank you for this posting;

Being someone who was born in 79, President Kennedy seems unreal. In fact, the 60s seem unreal. What a time.

first mastercraftsman of the television age with handsome good looks a telegenic smile combined with magnetic charm this man had it all. oh what a poignant leave taking. if only we had known we might just have stolen him away to keep him safe.we all knew he was special and I was but a boy but like all these things it only crystallized for us when he was taken by which time it was too late. no v.i.p. before or since generated so much unreconstructed excitement as this well tanned american as he waved good bye

I’m not Irish. I’m British with Kenyan roots. I found this comment supremely elegant. JFK was so eloquent, magnetic and beautiful. And it seems to me that he was extremely proud of his Irish roots. I’m sure in heaven, he walks by the Shannon’s brightly glancing stream.

Love the way he blesses himself when he disembarks from the plane. I was 1 year old when he arrived in the old Homestead, although televised I was told we did not have a TV at the time. (Only the wireless/radio!). Not long after the June 1963 JFK Irish state visit, that same year (between June & November 1963 ) my Dad purchased a TV, little did he realize he would be using it to view a far greater event to view JFK.😞💔 JFK was only 46 when murdered, the youngest ever American president, even to this day. (My Dad passed suddenly in 1966, age 53). RIP

We went from that, to where we are now. We never recovered from what was to come, a few months later in Dallas. I'm sure I've seen the answer somewhere, but where was Jackie?
@michaelpastorkovich93413 жыл бұрын
Jackie was pregnant. She gave birth to Patrick Bouvier Kennedy on August 7. 1963. He died two days later.

Or did the love and affection Ireland had on America they felt betrayed and hurt for not minding there child who so many went before and its unknowingly lay the seed of suspicion, and worry why we hate seeing our children go, as for you it’s Ireland for us its home
