What an incredible landscape. Despite a small mistake, it was a very harmonious and beautiful lap. It was definitely a challenge with the shadows and the sun that shone against you 👍

If it makes you feel any better, I would've been totally confused the whole course probably! Seriously, how can you memorize THIS MANY jumps??? It's quite incredible, I'd say. As well as Sherps! Such a good dude, and of course the rider matters just as much as the horse❤

@@experiment626eventing I think walking the course is mandatory because with cross country there's all types of ditches and things you need to be aware of. It's important you know your surroundings and what your jumping.

i always wondered what it would be like to ride on a golf course and.... yea, this kinda sums it up --- lots of crazy u-turns and bridges! such a bummer about the turn to finish but damn, what a horse --- the way he cruised right through that water!!

That ride into the morning sun had to be brutal. Don't be too hard on yourself, that little white boarder that differentiated the CCI 2*L from the Nat. Prelim. markers had me confused at the 5ABC combo. I say better to take time to be sure than get a DQ for missing a jump. Thanks for taking us along! You have the best helmet cams of anyone (so steady).

I loved this whole ride so much! The beauty of the scenery, that golden light, the clear shadows, Sharpie's wonderful, rhythmic foot falls, how you praise him and take responsibility for your mistakes, and then praise him again, and how when you're done he's not sweaty or hyped up and just walks calm as calm back to his stall... So inspirational. Thank you!

This is one of if not THE best round Sharpie has ever jumped (at least what you've shown us on the Helmet cam). He was AMAZING. He's got a nice arc over the jumps now and is starting to really get it instead of charging in flat. Good boy Sharpie!!! And honestly I can't believe you could see half the jumps with that sun. Despite the mistake, it was an excellent trail blazing ride for first out! Congrats.

Pygmy Puff Yes, me too! The horse may not be able to understand exactly what we’re saying, but I’m sure they know by our tone of voice, and when they do something good, kinda like a dog, over time they will come to know that ‘Good lad’ or ‘Good girl’ are words we use when we’re very happy with them!
