Helmet Cam: Sharp Decision (CCI 2 Star | 2019 Carolina International)

About a week ago I went XC with a couple of friends, we'd just finished a little course and decided to go for a gallop. I was midway through a "Woo - Hoo!!" when a fly flew into my mouth and I fell off because I couldn't breathe properly. One of the most embarrassing but funny moments of my life. Also, Sharpie is an absolute tank!

I agree, he hasn't escaped at his potential. So strong and fast! He takes off over fences without missing a beat, even when he is slightly off course.

Wow. What I found interesting is at this speed you never had to get him off his head. He was so quick to twist himself over that 1st combination. He is developing into a xcountry machine. And ye make it look easy. À potential Superstar in the making.🇮🇪☘🇮🇪☘🇮🇪

Yes! This was the first time I didn’t have to tell him “head up” I feel like he responded so well to the bigger atmosphere and also stayed really balanced through a fair amount of terrain. I love this boy so much!!

Has your international star system changed in the USA? Just wondering if this is old 1*? Really class riding though, it can sometimes be hard when they make a mistake like that to lose confidence but he seemed to learn from it and keep confident. Really well done, next advanced horse there!!

How do you keep them sound and happy? I often here that the racers get arthiritus etc early due to early workload and then they go on to be w eventers. Do You ever get issues with them? He’s so fast he’s great xxx

I work very closely with my vet and farrier, massage therapist, and chiro. They are high level athletes and have to be treated as so.

Most 5 star event riders don't teach beginner lessons. They expect you to have your own horse(s) and be competing/ready to compete.
