Congrats on that beautiful boat! The drop down dish storage really sets the tone for the fact it wastes zero space and has a lot of great creative touches.

You're right.. in fact we have about 50% of the storage capacity unused at the moment.. there really is loads of space to stow gear, provisions, etc. Thanks for the comment..

Nice boat. I got a real feel of the size of the interior, Thanks.

Thanks for the view and comment! For a 40 LOA it's quite a spacious salon at nearly 14' beam.

great video.thats alot of boat for 38 feet! good luck

For 38ft... it's a significant "platform" to operate from.. sturdy, long range at about 1,000 nautical miles, the woodwork, systems, etc.. Appreciate the view and comment! Greg

Greg, Great video! Please don't worry about going long or showing too much. I was very excited that you opened cabinets that I haven't seen opened on other videos. So put me in the same column as @slomoking, I will watch this one a few times

We meant you at the FL Trawler show and one thing that impressed us about the Helmsman was the use of pocket doors, I guess that’s an option? My wife caught that in your video. We like the split head/shower configuration and the day head. They’re beautiful boats but we still like our sailboat but maybe there’s a Trawler in our future.

Many of our clients are former sailors... they finally come to the dark side! I just sold a 38E to a couple who sailed for 58 years... Separate head and shower is awesome.. we love it. Pocket doors are standard, never an option. Hope to see you again, I remember meeting you at Trawler Fest! Cheers, Greg

Thanks for sharing. My wife and I are looking at the 38e along with a couple others. Not close to purchasing yet. You could do an hour long video on the 38e and I'd watch it more than once. Quick question, where does your shore power plug into?

Ha, I know the process well my friend.. my wife and I spent nearly two years going to boat shows, stepping aboard at local marinas, KZbin videos (a ton of wathcing!) - check out TrawlerForum.com. In the end the Helmsman (against my decision criteria) was the clear chose - but had to go through the process to realize that. My goal is to create videos to plug the holes in the content that is out there for Helmsman.. hope you subscribe and follow along. To answer your question: their are two 30 Amp inlets on the transom near the gate to the swim platform. In this video we pulled in Bow first thus we ran the chord alongside. You can option to have the inlets moved from transom to the just outside the pilothouse. Shoot me an email and I'll send you some nice 38E video content we don't post to KZbin.. I'll enter you into our database so you get that content (email, first/last name). gregmesserle@helmsmantrawlers.com

Are there outside cameras so one person could dock this boat or is it pretty much a two person operation? Also, would it be possible to install a water maker? I love this boat.
@HelmsmanHangout4 ай бұрын
Happy to chat with you in depth just shoot me a text or call 914-649-1666. Here's your answers though: 1. I have a camera in the cockpit facing aft so when I'm pulling in (stern in) I simply pull that view up on my Garmin MFD and I'm good to go! People typically add this option when considering their electronics package. 2. I have a water maker and it's great... I plan to use it big time while in the Bahamas this Winter (hopefully!). 3. My wife and I have this down to a well oiled 2-person operation; however many owners do the 38E single handed and I'm very close to pulling this off myself. I believe I could do it right now, but just haven't found myself in that position yet. But, YES - many folks single hand it with the bow/stern thruster which is standard. Talk soon! Greg Messerle

Man I love this boat. I’m 6’4” though so think I’d be hitting my head in the shower and helm at least. What kind of wood is that?
@HelmsmanHangout3 ай бұрын
Interior height, including the aft cockpit with the hardcover, is approx 6'7" .. we've had a few tall guys aboard at boat shows! Teak - solid teak! There are a few isolated areas where we have to use a teak veneer like the refridgerator door or the aft, aluminum sliding door but everywhere else is solid teak. The floor is teak and holly planks - just beautiful. thanks for the comment!

Agree stunning. They are made in Taiwan or China? Some amazing woodwork from That part of the world

Congratulations! I’ve never heard of Helmsmen so thanks for the intro! The boat feels HUGE for a 38 footer! What’s the range? How many GPH at what speed? What CE class?
@HelmsmanHangout5 ай бұрын
Hi there.. if you are interested in more information shoot me an email gregmesserle@helmsmantrawlers.com To answer these immediate questions: 1. GPH: depending on RPMs I'd say 3 GPH to about 5 GPH is what I'm seeing in the 1750 - 2000 RPM zone.. going approx 8-9 Knots. I am for 4 GPH.. something about being less than 5 is satisfying to me! 2. The salon is HUGE... that's one clear differentiator among others and one key reason I bought one (and now rep them). People step aboard and are amazed... full beam. 3. Range - in the 800 - 1,000 range depending on speed, currents, etc. Talk soon! Greg

OH, forgot.. CE Class - It's not officially classified (as many trawlers in this segment are not), but it's a very capable coastal cruiser .. not Class A (ocean crossing) but Class B I'd say. I'll be along the East Coast, into Bahamas so very sturdy. Hope this helps..

Awesome boat! What was your build time?
@HelmsmanHangout5 ай бұрын
Love the pre-populated responses KZbin provides for me to consider using in comments. For your post the suggested comment was: One day New builds today are looking like under a year and more likely in the 8 month zone. Interested, shoot me a line and I can give ya more info! gregmesserle@helmsmantrawlers.com 914-649-1666
