Always enjoy visits from Warren Bernard and his books. Gwandanaland Comics is reissuing Help. Two volumes so far, with four issues in each volume. Not in order, but complete with the great ads. "This Collection Needs Help!"

Great stuff. Help! smells of low budget; Kurtzman was at his most resourceful in finding ways to work on the cheap. Lots of vintage public domain cartooning from old masters like Caran D'Ache and Winsor McCay. He even got Eisner to allow a Spirit reprint. The Public Gallery got a lot of its material from the concurrent college humor magazines, where the Wonder Wart-Hog material originally appeared. There's a great paperback collection from the 60's called Wonder Wart-Hog, Captain Crud and Other Super-Stuff, collecting college superhero satires (including Bode's Masked Lizard.) By the way, the infamous Goodman Goes Playboy strip was reprinted in full in Comics Journal 262.

Del Close also had an album in that sales ad. Del wrote for DC and First comics in the 1980s.

Edit: I had a long winded ramble, and realized it was just putting more attention to things. I'll just say, you both seem like decent dudes. Please don't ever apologize for your art.

Great rundown of this little known but important niche of pop culture! I haven't seen much of Trump or Help before, but I've heard an interview with Gilliam on how important Kurtzman was to him. I grew up with my parents' bound volume of Humbug issues 1-9 (still have!) - so good! Many of the Mad regulars also worked on Humbug - Al Jaffee, Jack Davis, Elder, Wally Wood ...

Have you guys heard of the Gwandanaland Comics version of Goodman Beaver that was published last year? I just ordered it on amazon and it appears to contain the Goodman goes to Playboy story with the altered characters.
