@@brinnd330 What about Palestine? Hamas has vowed to exterminate all Jewish people from the earth which is GENOCIDE. Also the Jews purchased that land which was untenanted, btw. Do you even know that? Anyway if anyone in the USA has a bug up their ass about "stolen land", they're LIVING ON IT. Give up your home to a Native person first, then we'll talk about "stolen" land in other countries. Who will put their money where their big fat mouth is? Who will be the first American who owns land and a home to give it back to the people who rightfully owned it when it was taken from them? I have not seen ONE American offer to make it right here on our own soil so they can just STFU about other countries until they do.

I have suffered for a year. The fatigue and brain fog are brutal. The pain is brutal. My anxiety and depression started after getting Covid and it hasn’t let up. I have 11 doctors on my team and they just pass me on to another doctor. Nobody wants to prescribe any medications. I belong to several support groups online and people get on nearly every day to say goodbye to the group as they intended to take their own lives that night. We need help. I know Big Pharma doesn’t care unless they can make billions. We just need help.

Thank You, Senator Bernie Sanders. Long Covid is very similar to Chronic Lyme Disease and Tick Borne Co-infections and diseases. I hope both illnesses will be addressed with more serious financial support and disability considerations. Lyme Disease is increasing, as are pandemics, alongside Climate Change. Chronic Inflammation can be deadly. Especially Heart Inflammation and Brain Inflammation, very serious long term results. I have both Long Covid and Chronic Lyme and Tick Borne Illness. Double Whammy.

I've been advocating for this for years, even before the onset of COVID, yet my concerns were often disregarded. In addition to this, I've been grappling with long COVID, following on from complications stemming from another infection, ehrlichiosis. I'm relieved that our struggles are finally gaining the attention they deserve.

I was told to get IV therapy but cannot afford it and insurance won’t pay. The symptoms are awful and I feel like my life is spiraling down. It’s amazing fortunate to have a great daughter who makes meals for me and makes sure I eat I need a walker and see no light at the end of the tunnel. Only found doctors when I was emergent and thank my PCP who got me immediate. She was worried I was dying. Please we need help funds and doctors. Thank you Senator Sanders for trying to get that

My symptoms i never had until i caught it in 2022. Still suffering, can't work. You are on your own. Zero help that i can find. A while longer, then im heading to Canada to see if i can be euthanized. Paid into the system my whole life, and i get zero help. Just sucks.

I’ve been suffering for almost 2 years, bouncing from Drs to ‘Specialists’ , testing, more blood draws, retesting, Heart Monitors, Echocardiograms, Stress tests, and on and on. Already had CFS/Fibo, this is a different level. I also feel my previous diagnosis leads Drs to disbelieve and write you off. Frustrating. I just want to go back to feeling as crappy as I felt 2 years ago with just CFS/Fibromyalgia. I’ll deal with that! I can’t continue like this living alone, loosing ground daily, can’t keep up physically, mentally nor financially. Overwhelmed with too long of a to do list and too short on energy each day. I’m burnt out. Each day I wake up hoping I’ll have enough to make progress. Help us Senators, Health Care, Please. 🙏🏻

I know all about dealing with long haul covid. I was the 8th person in the state of NH to get covid when it first hit the USA in early 2020 (meaning the 8th person who tested positive. I suspect there were many others who had mild covid, and they never got tested). I was basically bed ridden for 8 month. Didn't have many symptoms, I was just total exhausted from low oxygen levels and had no sense of taste or smell. It took all my energy just to get out of bed and go to the bathroom, and had to hire someone to do my grocery shopping and carry all my groceries up to my 3rd floor apartment. All and all I'm in pretty good health and I was in my late 50s. So I'm living proof LONG covid is real. It took many months before VA hospital sent me a breathing machine which immensely improved my oxygen levels, energy levels and ability to start leading a relatively normal life.

Yep, my experience is the same. Insurance companies delay and delay so they don't have to pay. Insurance wants you to die, so they dont have to pay. Thats what they pay actuaries to do. Calculate how to avoid paying out the benefits patients have paid for for decades. Then they cancel your policy if that doesn't work either. Insurance is a massive rip off. All of it. Total 100% grift.

Post viral illness has been ignored for decades in this country. Along with many other so called rare conditions. Our healthcare system prioritizes money over people's lives. There are so many in this country that need help but there's none and there's next to no safety net. Our system needs to be overhauled for everyone regardless of diagnosis. Most other countries, at the least, have support for chronic illnesses. There's nothing in the US. It's beyond time that changed. Ps- there's been scientific studies for decades that viruses can cause all of these symptoms and conditions. It's wild to me that doctors are acting like this is something new. Keep yourself safe because no one else in this country will.

I have lived with chronic lyme disease most of my life. Just getting heard and believed took over a decade. After treatment with antibiotics, I was feeling better than I could ever remember. I had one shining summer of being healthy, 2018, then a new chronic fatigue set in during the fall. We thought the lyme was back, but I didn't respond to the treatments anymore. It took until 2021 that we realized it was something different. I got the covid vaccine in the late spring of 2021, and I got so much worse. With the symptoms worsening, I knew it was different from lyme. I happened on a video describing ME/CFS, and it fit. One doctor said ME/CFS was overblown, but my primary care provider believed me. We now figure I developed mild ME/CFS after clearing the chronic lyme out. Then, unfortunately, the covid vaccine exaserbated it to moderate ME/CFS. Now I'm just waiting, trying to live as comfortably as possible. Oh, and I have found some relief with Low-dose Naltrexone.

There for we are struggling financially I had to buy health care on the market place for myself because to add me to my husbands insurance it was very expensive. With the loss of my job , I was the main money maker , I am now fighting with SSDI to approve me, It's been 9 months and still no approval what are we supposed to do to keep a roof over our head, why must I fight for months only to get denied and wait months or years for approval. I know some suffers in the same position living in their cars. How am I supposed to afford the high deductible and coinsurance with no money. The answer is I don't go to the Doctor because I am still fighting SSDI and can't afford the deductible and coinsurance so I not only am going to loose my house I can't seek medical attention. Repeat again after 6 hours of sleep. I have been trying to work on a small business 😢 but now I have no income. Denied SSDI, in the appeal process. Applied mid 2023. Not sure what to do about rent this month. Now I have dysautonomia, PoTS, MCAS, post exertional malaise, palpitations, chest pains, feels like my brain is swollen, tremors, migraines, brain fog, list goes on. Mom guilt is real 😢 I definitely feel like my now 4 yo has lost a lot of what my first son got to experience of being an active mommmy. I live in Oregon if anyone has resources.

Thank you senator Sanders for this hearing, not enough is being done to tackle the COVID crisis in this country. I do find it shocking, that knowing the facts that anyone can get long COVID any time they contract COVID that there is not a greater emphasis on reducing the risk of catching COVID in our CDC guidelines. We know that masks work at greatly reducing this risk and it was quite disconcerting to see that a large portion of the senators and aids were NOT wearing masks during this exact hearing. I hope the your committee can work with the CDC to put mask regulations in place to protect the public from this devastating disease.

The concern over fraud is overblown for political purposes. America does this with every form of social spending: people are given unreasonably high burdens of proof if their medical conditions are any less obvious than being an amputee quadriplegic.
@SantaFishes101
@SantaFishes101 8 ай бұрын
YES!!! even a quadrapiegic will have trouble getting their needs met and on disability...I have heard of it more than once. what about the fraud the gov commits every year killing people and printing money to do it?? the audits prove the gov. is its own worst enemy!!!

Thank you Bernie! Once again you prove to be an honest, principled politician who's in politics for the right reasons, to try and address the issues and concerns of your constituency while seeking to improve the way government works in service of, and to improve the lives of as many Americans as possible, on that road to an imaginary or ideal "more perfect union". Sadly, most of the time that road is more akin to a "yellow brick road" in a fantasy novel that leads to a non-existent imaginary world.

The symptoms of long haul are hard to explain, the severity of brain fog feels like a concussion or brain injury for most of us. The fatigue is crushing as in everything is heavy and you have to fall down it feels like the flu without the stuffy nose and this can be from just trying to fill out paperwork. It’s a terrible disease and we have been disowned, disbelieved, and dismissed. This is a good step. Love you Bernie. For the senator who interrupted about physical therapy… you are the problem. To answering the question about why don’t you exercise even a little- the new research is showing mitochondrial damage when we do. It literally is doing damage to our cells they cannot breath. Thank you for some attention to this life altering disease that has taken my 30’s and turned them into a battle. We need financial support or we are going to have a lot of homeless sick people right around the corner. We need medicine or we will have a lot of hopelessness- and suicide. We need help now.

My sister has long COVID and was unable to receive the care she needed for 2 years, she was turned away by multiple, multiple healthcare workers who blew it off as anxiety, everything these women are describing is true. Finally in 2023, she started working with a health professional who is currently researching the disease, and is actively experimenting with potential treatments for it. My sister is in pain and exhausted all day every day, she often throws up just from the exhaustion of standing. My family is white, many of us cannot afford healthcare due to the decreasing demand for employees and our mental disabilities/disorders, all of us who experience these have been denied disability due to our age or purported ability to work, and she has experienced everything that Ms. Vasquez is claiming to be a race issue. I really wish everything didn't have to be about race and gender these days, but I know the racial divide is only in its infancy. I can only hope that we can all eventually realize that we're all people, and your skin color is not the reason that the healthcare system doesn't care about you, they don't care about anyone but their sponsors and others who find them.

you don't understand. she is not saying that race/gender are 100% predictors of the outcome...just that they greatly affect your likelihood of getting helped and taken seriously. please understand. race and gender disparities are real. your privilege tells you otherwise because you aren't around enough people or do enough research to know else. I am sorry that happened to you, but it is usually worse for minorities. don't be daft. I was gonna like your comment as someone with ME/CFS...but since I am also a black and transgender man, I cannot...because I understand what you don't. unfortunately, long covid and ME/CFS are in themselves stigmatized. so think what your sister has experienced but 100X...and in near every facet of life. again though, very sorry for another victim...

For Sen. Cassidy, In regards to PT for also a former runner, heavy lifter. I did multiple weeks - months of PT. Took a break. Tried again, then it was decided PT is making me feel worse vs better very unfortunate. Cause I was beyond hopeful to start becoming physically active/fit 😢 I worked hard many years to build my athletic body.

This is the stuff that makes Bernie an advocate for Americans. I was beyond disappointed that there seemed to be no effort to make the Medicaid expansion permanent. Especially after the dems really rallied around aca during the Obama administration. Where did everyone go? We should never allow the regression of gains towards universal healthcare. We went backwards.😢
