After spending a lot of time hiding my real hair underneath a FABULOUS wig, I decided I needed to give my own hair a second chance. I got some great advice from a great stylist and have changed some of my old hair habits for good ones. The results are plain to see. (It looks like I have a full head of hair, right?) My hair is typically so lifeless and dry, it looks like I've shedded most of it, but it is coming back to life and here's what I did...*watch video*

BIOTIN! Take it! The brand isn’t important, just take the strongest one you can find. Also, stay away from hairdressers, they hate working with fine hair and just want to sell overpriced, useless products. Avoid any kind of heat...blow dryers, flatirons. DO NOT do layering, get a blunt cut. You CAN have long hair if it’s fine, mine is to my backside. Pay attention to the ends, that’s where you need the conditioning. Almond oil is a less expensive alternative to argan oil. Use a wide tooth comb to gently ease out tangles after washing, afro-picks are great for this. Brush with boar-bristle hair brush, NO plastic vent brushes!

The only thing about taking biotin, you get hair in places you wish you didn't.

@Salesad Mieze, no, you don’t. You’re thinking of Rogaine, if not used as directed. Biotin is a water-soluble B vitamin.

Thanks for the vid. It's nice that someone talks about thin hair. At hair Salon places - stylists always have a lot of comments about my thin hair like its some kind of character flaw on my part. ( I get it! I have thin hair!) Not so much with help or suggestions. Thanks again for some constructive ideas.

Hi I'm a hairdresser the worst thing for fine hair is to bleach it it just makes it so dry and only wash it twice a week there s know need to wash it every day it strips the natural oil out of your hair blunt cut it for volume put in velcro roller s so it can dry naturally add volume ise moose before setting and keep hair short or medium length to make it look thicker I hope I've helped people with fine hair by doing these things it will look much thicker

I remember going into the salon together with my sister. We had just argued so we were not sisterly. When she saw how my stylist started criticizing my thin hair my sister felt so bad for me that she was no longer angry. The thing was that this was my longtime hairdresser. What the heck? She knew for years I have thin hair my start criticizing me now? I was so uncomfortable I looked for a new hairdresser.

Some really good tips, thank you. I’m nearly 60, and my hair is just not what it used to be. Have put the Big Sexy Hair powder on my amazon shopping list, and will upgrade my shampoo. Some days I get really hacked off with my wispy old lady hair. Amazing what a difference a ‘good hair day’ makes to my morale.

I have natural blond fine thin hair. Its literally just as fragile as bleached hair. It breaks so easy. I can ONLY use a wide tooth comb on my hair. I can hear my hair “snapping” with a hair brush. I also used to wash my hair everyday with those cheap stripping shampoo and wouldn’t even use a wide comb and would just yank my hair out with a round brush. I blew out my hair everyday cause i was so insecure. Now, I use sulfate free shampoos, I do scalp oil treatments, I only use a wide tooth comb, I stopped blow drying my hair....... at first it was AWFUL! Once i stopped blowing out my hair, it was like a withdrawal. My hair looked so dead and terrible unstyled. But i waited it out. And my hair is growing in thicker and healthier than ever before. I have always loved the natural hair movement with women with curly textured hair. But I advocate a natural hair movement for fine thin hair. We girls need to stop trying to add so much volume and damaging the crap outta of it! :) this was so long but it’s just something I’m passionate about.

I love those wide tooth combs. I use one in the shower to comb the conditioner through, and while rinsing it out too. Then when I get out of the shower my hair is not knotty when I comb it and it somehow makes it softer doing it that way too.

Sasha💜 So glad to have found your channel & videos just now! Love your energy & enthusiasm -- it pulls the viewers' interest right in! Since I've had fine long hair all my life I live for any info I can find out about it as long as it's real and not BS. I used to treat myself by going to high end salons to care for my hair and ultimately buy their expensive products. But there's so many ppl out there who will tell you whatever just to try and get your money, even at high end salons. Eventually I went less & less as I became more & more disillusioned with the salons. So now I take care of my hair myself. I can't afford the salons anymore anyway. I worked 35 years as a nurse but had to retire early due to illness. Only I'm too young for retirement, lol. You never know what is going to happen in life do you? Anyway after having long hair all my life I've been seriously thinking about getting a short manageable hair cut. Something funny happened to my hair after I got ill. My whole life I had very light brown hair with blonde highlights. It was wavy & easy to curl or straighten. When I was in the hospital my hair was really falling out and in bad shape. Then I went home and finally started getting better. My hair turned very dark brown, almost black, with reddish brown highlights now. My hair is super curly, it looks like I had a perm. I've done nothing to it. Ppl I haven't seen in a while always ask what I did to my hair. They can hardly believe I haven't colored it at least, lol. But 1 thing didn't change -- it's still fine! Have you ever heard of something like this happening?

I went into septic shock a year ago from an untreated uti. All my organs were shutting down. I was hospitalized for over 2 months. My hair started falling out in clumps about 3 months after I somewhat recovered. It is now growing back in a dark brown shade. I was a dark blonde and had my hair highlighted 2 times a year. So it’s interesting that you also turned dark brown. Not sure I like being a brunette. 😂.

I started using oil in my hair. I mix onion seed oil, castor oil and 15 drops of quality essential rosemary oil in a essential oil 1/2 Oz roller ball vial. I roll it on my scalp and hair shaft. I then put the onion seed oil on my hands and rub it through my hair well. I leave this on 15-45 before washing. When I shampoo my hair I leave the shampoo in a few minutes. I also use sulfate free shampoo. My hair almost the first day stopped breaking off and falling out. Before I’d have about 1/4 inch of hair in my wet comb every morning, now 1 to 5 hairs a day. I can run my fingers through my hair and feel where my new hair growth is thicker. Finally I’ll be able to grow my hair longer.

Good for you for starting to take care of your hair now while you’re young. As a few other women have mentioned, after menopause many women will experience thinning hair. I had a pretty decent amount of fine, wavy hair when I was young, but besides torturing it (I was young during the late ‘60’s-70’s when long, straight hair was in, something my naturally squirrelly hair wanted nothing to do with!) my hair continued to thin after menopause and after chemo treatments for breast cancer. I didn’t lose my hair from chemo, it just thinned a lot more. Fortunately, the wave in my hair (that I hated when I was younger!) helps to give the illusion of fuller hair; but, cut is of paramount importance. I’m using a product called Nioxin and it has helped somewhat, though it really makes my scalp itch. Keep taking care of your hair, young ladies; you will thank yourself in the years to come! 🙋🏻‍♀️

Does "lucent" mean it didn't change the hair color? I'm dying to try henna but I'm nervous about final color. Women began using it to strengthen their hair...color was just lagniappe. I would like the extra color _if_ I knew what it would look like beforehand. It bonds to your hair...you can't wash it out.

Specifically 100%silk. “Satin” is the description for the fabric weave and can be polyester, among other things. Also, you can try a 100% silk hair cap. They look silly, but you can wear them while sleeping on a pillowcase that is cotton.

Great video! I stopped using sulfate shampoo about a year ago..and it's unbelievable how much healthier my hair is and so much bounce and body. I actually stopped washing and he's abusing it , using hair spray and thickening products with alcohol and silicone. I take Biotin and collagen daily. Also, I add a Olaplex type product in my hair color process. It's made a huge difference. 👍

On that note, you can find some great sulfate free shampoos at the health food stores (ie. Natural Grocers) for half that price. I even heard some people say that Dr. BRONNER'S castile soap (the liquid version) is a great shampoo alternative.

For me, that bottle would last FOREVER! I used to use tons of shampoo, but realized I can use just a tiny bit, even dilute it with 1/2 water, and my hair is clean. (I discovered this out of necessity after my divorce, haha!) 😊

Your personality is awesome, huni-chile! It caused me to smile and actually not dread going to work.... TRUST ME; I was in a mood... I'm talkin the 'DARK SIDE'... I am 41 and have been through this thin- hair-cut-it-don't-care stage foreverrrrrrr. I learned alot from you; and you are right! WHY, WHY, WHY don't hairstylists take a few extra minutes to explain all this to their clients with thin, fine hair?! That is one thing that will keep me coming back and giving them my business! Oh welll.. Sasha! YOU have my business now. 😁

Let us try to go cruelty free. Aveda and many others are are excellent choices. These animals really do suffer, please make a commitment to end this inhuman treatment now. Peace and love.

Rana Kosten, I totally agree. There is no reason to be harming the animals when there are so many non cruelty free options. Also there are many Vegans like myself who will not purchase any product that has been tested on animals or contains animal products. In today's age we should opt for more natural products that are animal, chemical and cruelty free.

Good information. I have the exact same hair. I have found many drugstore shampoo makers now offer sulfate free color protection shampoo which works just as well as Nexxus. I, too, have stopped bleaching or lifting my hair color with 30 or 40 volume developer. I still color my hair, but now it is with 10 or 20 volume developer and 8 color for a nice dark blonde. My hair is much healthier. I agree -- thin fine hair that is long doesn't look great. I love your current hairstyle. Very classy and great volume. Also, thin or fine haired ladies should have their iron blood levels checked by their doctor. My blood iron was severely low. I've been treated with iron supplements (there is also an IV infusion alternative) and now my hair is growing in slightly thicker and healthier. As for wigs, I still wear them regularly. It's a wig addiction. :)

You might also want to buy a clarifying shampoo and use it once a month. A clarifying shampoo can remove product build up, which causes frizz. The Suave Clarifying Shampoo is very inexpensive. The only downside though is that this shampoo has sulfates.

thanks Sasha! Sodium Laurel Sulfate in our hand soap is what makes our hands dry and crack. they also put it in toothpaste! I am super sensitive to it. I really like the shampoos w/o it. I have been using it's lavender/chamomile luminosity shampoo, conditioner and hair oil made for blondes and for volumizing. so far so good. did not check for sulfates. it cleans my hair w/o weighing it down and makes it so shiney! thanks for sharing!😀

Sodium laural sulfate is added to most toothpastes. I can't use them. Makes the insides of my mouth peel just like a sunburn. So can't be good for our hair either.
