help... [Genshin Impact Catalysts Only]

Genshin Impact, but we use Catalysts ONLY. AKA, Spells Only.
This time around we enlist the help of other players in co-op, to help us farm for handguards, ganoderma, the bathwaterdemon boss in Enkanomiya, and basically anything that will help us build Yae Miko. Then we swap over to grinding out the Hypostasis event for primogems to help us pull for Scaramouche once he is released.
This is inspired by my own Swords Only playthrough we currently have running on the channel. That account is at a point where we just need to farm domains to further build characters, so with plenty of catalyst-wielding characters on the horizon, it's time to begin this journey as well.

In response to thinking about end goals, I think my favorite parts of the series have been when I asked myself "How is Java going to get out of this one" or "What is Java going to do next". It made the challenge feel more interesting to come back to, especially in the starting phases. Even when you were doing content you were doing before, you had to approach it in different ways due to lacking the right elements or having the right amount of range (I'm still in awe that you did the archery challenge on both accounts). That isn't to say the current videos aren't interesting but without a goal they feel kind of just like normal Genshin grinding which I think takes away the uniqueness of the challenge. The limitation of using catalysts (and swords in the other playthrough) aren't as bad because you can do everything (eventually). Honestly I'm not sure how you'd tackle something like an end goal since a lot of it hinges on grinding or waiting. Maybe you could look through the achievement lists and try and complete ones that you think would be interesting or try to complete a specific number? Or maybe you could make your own haha, Java's achievements where you complete your own personal challenges! I'm not sure what would make a good end goal but I hope you can find something that you enjoy working towards. Best of luck Java!

I don't know if you knew this, but when spamming Normal Attacks with Ninigguang if you hold down the W key you attack faster... It acts as a cancel for you attack animation and you can get more DPS for it. :)

Regarding your death rate, there's a gadget called NRE and it usually can do pretty good job at keeping your HP up, particularly in co-op scenarios. That Kamera you have eqipped sure lets you snap fancy pictures of dissolving body of your character but in terms of preventing that dissolution it cannot do much. And seriously, maybe you could start a new series called "quests only" where the main challenge is doing all the quests. Because that seems to be the real challenge for you in this game.

I feel like floor 12 spiral abyss is a good end goal for both accounts, as it proves you've 'completed' building two teams of characters. though I think even after you achieve that you can still go back occasionally to complete new archon quests and stuff, just cuz you figuring out ways to get around quest gimmicks for me is the highlight of these series.

What I like, especially in the Catalyst series, is the struggle to beat things with limitations; There are not so many Catalyst user, and none of then are that strong yet, so things are still interesting.

Needs a kokomi, kokomi is my ultra catalyst carry. Easy to build, doesn't need crit, fine with thrilling tales or prototype amber, and clam shell set almost doubles her damage. Out heals most damage, skill heals without needing burst, burst heals all the team. Kokomi is the comfort pick on level with Zhongli's shield

I agree that there isn't much to do on these accounts. I still enjoy the farming videos and stream clips, but the real fun of the series is seeing you clear the storyline and overcome parts like the archery challenge (the ptsd), maybe thinking of fun ways to do stuff like puzzles that are hard to do with catalysts etc. Imo it'd be nice to just come back to these accounts once in a while, when something challenge worthy comes along? The one thing you didn't do that I'd like to see on weapons only would be like an optimal team showcase to see what weapon only characters make really good teams together, I guess.

Honestly, I think benching accounts after spending so much time on them is a bit sad. But I understand the monotony of grinding multiple accounts. Maybe once the accounts have met their goals (36star spiral abyss for example; then you can play them occasionally on stream to collect rewards, and only get a youtube episode out for the accounts that haven't met their goals (and occasionally when a character you can pull for is on banner) I'll admit that I don't really know precisely how heavy of a schedule that would be, but I assume producing, editing and compiling the videos takes significantly more effort than playing on stream, which is why it makes sense to me to gradually fade out the more advanced accounts and keep them almost only as stream content. Accounts such as the Nuzlocke have a defined goal already.

My favourite part of the challenge was probably in the beginning where you had to find creative solutions to overcome challenges. I'd love to see something similar by attempting the story quest domains with only _____ weapon type as more content. Thinking more of it, doing the same story quests over and over seem kind of tedious, but I guess you can shift to only completing more mechanically difficult quests (at least when only using one weapon type) instead of tying to get so many accounts to end game. Just food for thought.

As for the "end goal of an account" topic: why not complete (100%, all quests and whatnot) a certain region with just one weapon type? I can imagine completing inazuma with just one weapon type, considering all the puzzles, would be hard but also fun to see just what one can do to work around them

Personally I think that if you do set an end goal for those accounts, it should be something like getting to AR 60 or beating all the archon quests that are currently available. To me that's the most basic way to beat genshin, the hard-core way would be to get 100% exploration everywhere and get all the achievements for each region (like opening 800 chests in all of liyue) along with getting the highest level reputation, all the oculi, and beating all the world/story quests. However, genshin is an unfinished game meaning you can set the end goal to whatever you want it to be :)

I’m definitely looking forward having some nice way to end the series. You’re one of my favorite genshin channels ever, but I’ve been finding myself less compelled to watch these spells and swords only as before. I hope you can move onto new projects that you enjoy! I’m not really sure what a nice fulfilling end goal would be though… I was thinking maybe instead of that you can also change which account you play on depending on what character is on the banner- if it is a sword or spell character you play on that for the weeks the banner is live, and otherwise you use your main. Maybe then you only do one at a time, and the accounts get more interesting as the game slowly scales in difficulty. And I hope we get to see more of the newer content because of it!

I think a good end goal is 9 star floor twelve and then a fight all world bosses then the weekly bosses where you can only reuse 1 character in each region. (eg. If I use Xiao, Sucrose, Zhongli, and bennet to fight the Inazuma bosses, I can only choose 1 to carry over to the other three regions. Then if my next team in liyue is zhongli, raiden, nahida, ayato then I also only get to choose 1 after). This is probably more practical on swords only as you have more chareacters there. Additional rules could be: no resurrection foods, no healing foods (buffs allowed), no healing between even if you have a healer that can do so,* no collecting energy from outside sources between fights, Drowning counts as death for only the on-field character *With this rule it will basically reset each region as you get a new team, but the one character you saved will still be damaged.

To be honest, I agree with the end goal of this and swords only accounts. Maxing abyss and speed running bosses seems reachable. ^^ Bc other than that, all you can do is events (which for you seems more like a chore, bc of repetitivness), improve characters and nothing more. So yeah in conclusion I would like setting end goals, bc I'm also excited to see other projects form you, he he! ^^

So, I'm new to this channel and I've been binging this series. I know this video is old at this point, but if you're still looking for end goal opinions, here's mine: I do think Spiral Abyss floor 12 is a good goal. On the surface, it might look like an overly simple goal and that in the end it's just a bunch of grinding, but is that really the case? Let's take a quick look at the current most popular, or in other words, most powerful floor 12 teams. National (and it's variations), Childe International, Raiden Hyper, Ayaka Freeze, Morgana, Kuki Hyperbloom, Mono Geo, Nilou Superbloom, Hu Tao double hydro... There are probably more, but they all have one particular thing in common, and that is that the most important characters in most of these teams are not catalyst users. One of my favorite things about this series was how restricted you were at the start before you had gathered all the elements and characters. Every new character was a step forward. Now, this is no longer the case. You have access to all elements (with Sucrose as the pseudo cryo), and any content can be reliably cleared, albeit slowly. Now, the series is lacking that sense of progression that fueled it in the earlier stages. There are no "great walls" left. But if you look at the Abyss teams I listed earlier, you see that you don't have access to any of the supporting characters that makes the above teams work. There are no Bennet, XQ, Zhongli... Isn't this similar to how you were so restricted during the early game? Because you're lacking all these key characters, you have to find workarounds and build teams that, while sub optimal, will still still be able to power through. More importantly, you need two such teams, meaning you can't just rely on one particular busted reaction (nahida hyperbloom). To make things a little easier on you, you can probably set the goal as simply clearing floor 12, not 9 starring it, but I think this would be a pretty good challenge to end the series on. Yes, there will be a lot of grinding to make any of your characters Abyss ready, but with a goal in mind it'll feel a lot less mindless. That's my thoughts on the matter anyway.

Some endgame goal ideas! -the obvious one, 36 star the abyss -until you reach ar 60 -until you reach a certain number of friendship level 10's (based off a challenge I'm planning to do, one of the endgoals is filling up my namecard section of my profile with just friendship level 10 namecards) -until you own and maxed out every catalyst user (at the time) -once you 100% every area Not sure if this will help just some ideas:)

One thing I've noticed is having tons of accounts really expediates burnout. As someone with only one account, I find myself able to enjoy most of the content Genshin throws my way very consistently, never having to worry about the dread of redoing content countless times. This is why it is my opinion that it would be healthier for you to eventually find closings for each of your series pieces. I love to see them, but I don't know how I'll feel if I eventually see you hate doing them. Just make sure you're taking care of yourself, and have fun.
