12:42 I legit didn't even realize it was Okami until you said it. Once you said it, I was just like "Oh shit, that IS Okami, how in the world didn't I notice" Speaking of Okami... Great game. Like, I genuinely recommend it to anyone reading this (Especially if you like Zelda games, though I do feel like it's important to add that the puzzles are often VERY easy, and that the game often outright gives you the answer). It just oozes tons of charm, and the artstyle honestly kinda BENEFITS from being low-poly, which means that it's very hard for the game's visuals to truly age.

"What is Wonder Boy?" Look up "Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap" on modern storefronts for its absolutely STUNNINGLY-animated HD remake. The game is a lightweight Metroidvania where your quest is to search out and slay several dragons tormenting the realm, but each one slain puts a curse on your hero, turning them into a different monster (with different abilities).

The problem is that there are *so* many games, at this point, that it's difficult to pin stuff down. My tastes seem to tend toward smaller/indie games, flash games, or things that weren't as recognized when they released (like Cave Story). But I'm screwed when it comes to older consoles, or, mainline series that aren't, like, Mega Man, Pokemon, Zelda. That doesn't mean I don't know a lot of music- it just means I have no chance at these quizzes, which sucks.

These are so fun and hilarious, and I find it especially funny bc I usually never know any of the themes, and often never even heard of the games themselves, I only got like 2 right in this quizz for example (The Professor Layton one and the Ori theme). I LOVE vgm to bits but I have the most specific and "sheltered" gaming experience as you said, cause I never had any consoles as a kid. So I played what my friends had, or whatever the heck CD-ROMS I had access to for some reason, which means my childhood games were like SuperMario World and Sonic CD (the american OST version), games that are considered classics now and then I also played stuff like..... "Hansel & Gretel and the Enchanted Castle" and "Side Pocket" (which has a banger ost btw), lmao.

@thenonexistingheroАй бұрын
Dude, Ikaruga is far from one of the most obscure games in gaming history. Heck, it's one of Treasure's most famous games. Gunstar Super Heroes (the GBA game not Genesis game), Guardian Legend, Radiant Silvergun, Sin and Punishment, Bangai-O (all games in the franchise), Astro Boy: Omega Factor, Guardian Heroes, etc... all of them are more obscure. Ikaruga is usually the 2nd most mentioned game that is associated with Treasure after the original Gunstar Heroes. Sadly they're pretty much a dead dev these days. They haven't even released a game in over a decade.
@Zalger248Ай бұрын
@@thenonexistinghero Fair enough. When I say 'obscure', I mean more in terms of comparison to the many other titles that are more well known - the Super Marios, the Zeldas, the CoDs, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, etc. I hardly ever see much discussion about Ikaruga, so it registers as being on the more 'obscure' end of the spectrum for me.
