Its an indie story game with very interesting game mechanics, and it's soundtrack was composed by Machine Girl, a group that mainly do a lot of edm and jungle, but I've been in love with the game since it came out. Would love to see you check out some of the songs, since it shares some themes revolving around christianity like ultrakill, but to a less visceral extent. o/

Dang. I never thought the intro tune of stardew valley made me tear up. My mom used to play it since i introduced it to her on 2018. She would often ask me if there were updates and she loved it modded. sadly she passed early march 2024 due to cancer. Btw editor-san is awesome. 7:22 I'm not really surprised you missed it if you only played 2 levels of 64, this is the theme the game greets you with if you sit on the title screen and don't immediately just spam the start/a button. 15:24 Toby Fox did compose a song in Sword and Shield, but it wasn't that one. It's a bonus track for some post game content, and was actually released to the public before the release of the games. After that, Toby actually got the opportunity to work more closely with the other composers on the main motifs for Scarlet and Violet, which at the moment are the most recent games.

One of my favorite games I used to play when I was young is Captain Tsubasa Vol II Super Striker (NES). It is a soccer game based on a quite known Japanese anime featuring Ozora Tsubasa who is a young Japanese player aspiring to be the best soccer player. This game has some super cool music, albeit the sound is in 8-bit. One of my favorite tracks of this game is Toho Team (Kojiro Hyuga's) theme. I still listen to the soundtrack of this game till this day.

Skies of Arcadia took me like a second to recognize and I hadn't even heard the song in like a decade. EDIT: The MMX3 opening stage song (SNES version) was like... just a fraction of a second. These are fun! It feels like you need a lower level of info to shoot for though - when I was first doing drop the needle tests with my dad as a kid (a theory/aural skills professor, so *shrug* It be like that sometimes.) he would ask me for an era (either like Renaissance/Classical/Romantic, or as I got better by century/decade), and then country, and then composer. It was never just "guess this is Donizetti" it was Italian -> 1800s -> probably Donizetti. It worked, though possibly too well, cause as an adult I cannot explain my logic to friends other than "well it sounds like it's French, but lower, so it's Russian." Maybe if you can't guess the exact title, guess the decade, or the system, or (like you sometimes do) the series! Then you get small wins as you're getting better.
