HELP ME FIND PICK MY NARS SOFT MATTE COMPLETE FOUNDATION | MACAO VS MARQUISES

So, guys keep in mind, NARS already runs pretty golden, like the whole line runs more on the golden side. So before they extended the shades, Macao was described as “golden”. However, because Marquises now exist, which is really a true golden, Macao is now described as it really is, a “Golden Olive” So, if you were Macao and thinking it looked super yellow, its because its really so golden, that its actually olive in undertone. Marquises Was added to the Sheer Glow line and now its included in this new Soft Matte Foundation! Try Marquises!

@@daqueen76 Yeah see the red in New Caledonia, is cancelling that olive green in Macao, which is basically what Marquises is. I feel the company probably responded to feedback about the gap and I’m glad they acted appropriately!

For me macao is slightly dark in the natural radiant foundation, I'll have to try the matte one to see how it works on my skin. As I have a golden/neutral like undertone... I'm 410 on fenty to give you an idea.

Melissa yes, if you are 410, than Macao may look slightly darker. I’m 420 and Macao is typically my shade across NARS. You might still be Macao because Moorea may be too light of a jump (the next golden tone back from Macao). You would be better off using Macao and then brightening with a concealer in the middle(something like Caramel), like Sis did in the video, for balance and dimension. When you’re in between foundations, as a melanated person, it’s just better that you look more Melanted and brighten than to go lighter because we ALL know once it’s even a LITTLE BIT too light, it’s TOO LIGHT. 😅

I liked the Marquises side better as well! That’s the shade I use in the Natural Radiant Longwear and the shade I picked up in the Soft Matte!! I’m so glad more people are reviewing this shade, it’s definitely overlooked!!! 🧡

I am usually New Calendonia in all of Nars foundation. With this new matte foundation, New Caledonia was ashy on me and clearly as different shade. Not sure why they would name it the same name, but it not be the same shade. I returned it.

YES, I saw it in store and the shades aren’t 1 to 1, that’s why I’m so confused by many of the KZbin reviews. I’m typically New Caledonia but it was a bit too light, I would normally go to iguacu but it’s not a flattering neutral, it’s lifeless

Loved your video I’m almost in the same boat I can wear Macao but it’s lowkey too light and Marquises is darker. When I blend the two they look great it just sucks because that’s 100 bucks on foundation 🥴 Anywho you definitely made me want to try the matte foundation I usually purchase the radiant longwear . I think you can honestly wear both but Marquises looks good but so does Macao!

I use Marquises in NRLF and it’s a better match than Macao. I find Macao quite neutral on me. I have yet to try this new Matte formula

For me macao looks nice, rather go lighter bc foundations oxidize, I find that when you go 2 shades lighter makes entire makeup look more fresh throughout the day.

Marquises looks way better and that hint of red easily balance out once you highlight. Macao isn’t horrible but definitely looks more ashy. Depending on how much lighter you get in winter it would work or even mixing them.

I had the exact issue I ordered Macao a felt it was a little light but my Sephoras don’t sell marquises in store (they do online however) so I tried New Caledonia the next shade up that Sephora had to offer in store because I didn’t want to wait for it to come in the mail of course it was to dark long story short I ended up getting a recommendation from a nars representative and ordered Marquises (I’ve been pronouncing it mar-key-sis) I don’t know if that’s how you say it either lol. Anyway Marquises works for me I have the sheer radiant formula btw. Yes I agree with you the Marquises looks better on your complexion however the look very similar. Thanks for the review, although I'm 4 years late seeing it! Sorry, the name is pronounced MARQUI-SES. It is a name for a group of islands in French Polynesia, although they are really called 'The Marquesas'. All of NARS shades are named for real places, although they some times vary the spelling. The Marquises side looks better to me because it matches your neck a bit better.

Marquisis looks better. I never bought NARS foundation because I didn't think Macao would work even though my foundation shade twins wear it. I JUST ordered Macao from Sephora yesterday and now you pull this. 😩 I saw another video and thought about Marquisis.
