Petting zoo's normally just have things like goats, pigs, bunnies, etc. Everytime I've seen a Petting zoo the animals have all acted normally and will be walking around, eating, and just acting the same. Idk what petting zoo you may be referring to

I think the animal idea is good, if there's an option for adoption - so having your local shelter come over with puppies who the guests could possibly adopt would be a great idea. Adoptable pets. As far as a petting zoo idea, you have no idea how those animals are treated.

ElectricLis Yup. Also thanksgiving should be classy and simple and it’s about being grateful and enjoying your meal with your loved ones. Not showing off your wealth to this extent a little bit over the top is fine and a nice lavish dinner with expensive crockery is good too but to have a theme and all that is just a bit too much. Just my humble opinion.

Here’s is an unsolicited suggestion lol. Instead of using real animals, how about having a dress code where little kids dress up as animals for the theme. It would be so cute! Petting zoos in general are never a good idea. Especially trying to host a baby elephant (and really ANY animal) in a backyard in LA with a lot of noise and people and possibly overly-handsy children. Love the ideas for the lights and table though

Thanks for sharing! I would say rethink the hiring animals plan. I would say just donate to an animal charity instead so the animals don’t have to “work”. You could put a small sign saying you chose to donate to animals but guests can still have fun with a creative background. Maybe you could do a giant animal balloon background for the kids, guests to do their photo op. Just a suggestion 🙂Also, think about how much food is wasted when using real food like pumpkins for decor. Instead use fake pumpkins, squash, etc as your decor. Or at least donate the real food decor to a local pantry or shelter so the food can go to the hungry. Thanks 🙂
