Not sure - it's tough to figure out from afar, but my best guess is that the profile you are using doesn't match the mode which the light is in

We are having troubles with the lights after installing a new power supply and a new interface that the led lights don't change colors anymore. Don't see an option for address. Any ideas?

Do you have a video on how to set dip switches? I saw a video that your supposed to set the dip switches after plugging It in

I do not, as they're not super common anymore. When you set them usually doesn't matter (you can do it powered up on most devices), but that part of the setup is up to the manufacturer of the light/DMX device. So it may be that there are some lights that require you to set the dip switches while it is or isn't powered up. I've never seen that, but there are a lot of lights out there, and I certainly haven't touched them all!

Hi there, I’m new to DMX stuff. I normally do live-sound, but right now I am checking a GLP Light Operator 24. The problem is that it wont send DMX message on CH 1…. Any clue what might be the cause for this? I have checked the inside of the unit, the fader and switch for CH 1 is OK.

Dmxis will no longer save. I have another separate install and interface in a different theater. Both of them have done the same thing. It acts as though the memory is full. Is this possible and how do I fix it???

Heya, i've got 4 led par cans hooked up to a chauvex 4 channel dmx. All i want to have is 1 fixture for each light set to manual rgb. I know i have them set to the right fixtures because the lights are being controlled how i want them to but for some reason whenever i select a light down the daisy chain to change it, the one preceeding that becomes multicoloured strobe. Always the one preceeding the selected fixture. Please any help you have would be greatly appreciated!! 😅

It sounds like you may be using Microphone cable, instead of DMX cable - this is often a problem associated with that.

What if the the display on the unit isn't showing up? It's actually happening with two of my Thintri 38 lights. I don't understand it because they're not old and definitely not abused

Unfortunately, when we're talking about lights on the cheaper end like these, they're probably just broken. If you're decent with electronics, take it apart and see if there is a cable unplugged inside, but the LCD may just be dead

Hi, i've created some 'lights to music' synchronization, etc, but modified some of the scenes because i added some lights; however, when i play the song, i get an error message "light scene not found"? Sometimes, when you add a few lights, and you click on a particular scene, you might have a fixture that turns on, etc, so then you end up modifying the scenes, etc. anyhow, not sure if that makes sense..; thanks again for your great videos!

One of my 5p hexes that I’ve been using for 4 years without issue. Just started strobing and changing colors and wasn’t responding to the software. This happens after about 2 hours of it being on now. Even when I turn the light off from the software it still continues strobing. Is it possible that this is from my software being outa date?

I just got an Obey 40 and 3 Seven Star Mini Spider lights. The spider lights are 7/13. Do I set the dmx address to 1-7, 8-14, 15-21 or in groups of 13 per light?

I purchased a Chauvet DJ 6 Spot that has ten programmed scenes. However I just want to use it to project steady light in one color. I purchased a used American DJ DMX controller, but am having difficulty learning how to use it with this light bar. Can you recommend a resource/video that specifically demonstrates how to program the 6 Spot? Thank you in advance (btw, I'm a dmx novice).

Hey. Thanks for informative videos. I have a DMX signal problem that I want to share with you here. Maybe it can help others. I first used first the "Shushi DMX" to control MVH, PAR and "30 channel dmx512 rgb led strip controller" and this works without any problems. Then I needed more channels, so I switched to the Enttec Open DMX USB Interface, and then the 30 channel LED strip controller would not read the DMX signal, the MVH and PAR workes fine. By connecting the Entec through a USB hub with external power supply, there was again a signal that could be read by the 30 channel LED strip controller. By switching to another new laptop, there was a OK signal without the USB hub ?? I then thought it was a low signal / voltage and thought a DMX splitter with external power supply could boost and distribute the signal from the old laptop. But no, the only thing that works on the old laptop is to connect Entec through a USB hub with external power supply. And yes, I've tried all the troubleshooting ideas that are mentioned in the video. The only working solution I found is the USB hub.

Interesting....Not one I've seen before, but it is understandable since sometimes laptops try to save USB power, and that is problematic for DMX devices. The ENTTEC "Open" USB is particularly known for being troublesome sometimes because it is a bare-bones, "cheap" device.... Glad you found a solution!

If you've tried changing the DMX channel and are sure you're controlling it correctly, then your unit has broken/is defective.

i have the LED LAMP> LED DMX led bluetooth strip lights. when i plug them in they do a white strobe. they won’t bluetooth connect to the app and the app won’t bluetooth connect to my led lights.

I just picked up a chauvet obey 40 controller and my lights are set to 001 017 ect and wont light up

You are most likely not opening up the correct channels to get your particular lights to light up. Make sure any master/shutter/strobe/color channels are up.

What do you turn on first light or board I find when board is on I plugged in led DMX his strobe but I plugged in light then turn on board it works and it's an old ect board

This is going to depend on your console. You're going to need to find the "Patch" (if the console has one), and see what faders control the DMX address (often called "dimmer" in these ETC boards) that you are looking to control. Then, find that fader and bring it up. If you can't find a patch, or there isn't one, then it is likely 1:1 - or the fader number matches the DMX number exactly. You'll want to check the manual for your console for more info. :)

If your still having that problem Hi i have the ETC ColorSource AV 40 This works for most ETC consoles.. Please make sure your playback and cue faders are allthe way up. i advice you turn on the lights first and make sure they blink the set channel number if they do that then turn on your board. please note most etc consoles are NOT meant to be plugged directly into a light you need a showbaby trans/reciver x2 and then you need to make sure the 7/13/6 or whatever matches it. Please note lights might flicker if they are found by the ADM which is automatic Digital Multiplex light finder and will patch auto maticly if not add the device in the patch

How to reboot DMX 512? I have problems when I lead the light(d001) to the DMX , when I turn up the faders nothing happens! Why?

There is no "reboot" for DMX. If you've got a "basic" lighting console, make sure you're first pressing a button to select a light, then bring up the faders - you'll want to check your console's manual to be sure you're doing it correctly :)

I have the same issue. I figured out that the lights can be linked to themselves where one acts as master in whatever mode you want while the others act as slave in d001 mode. In other words, I don’t think that you can control those lights from a controller but you can control them from one of themselves acting as master light. I am not sure if the lights you have are the same as mine, but I bought some generic cheapo led lights for about $10 each.
