Hrmm, I remember the film days. Way back in 1986, the A-1 and the F3 were expensive SLRs. But to compare the two, they're not at the same level. The canon F-1n is the direct competitor to the Nikon F3. If you want reliability bring the F3 because you will be assured that it will function in whatever weather you throw in it (with or without batteries). You can even use the F3 as a weapon in emergency situation and rest assured it will still function.

That 135/2.8 is an awesome, yet underrated portrait lens on a film or full frame camera. If you have the space to back off a little, you can isolate the subject so well and the bokeh on that lens is amazing. Don't like the looks much though, especially with an adapter. Looks like a tall red bull or something sticking out of the camera.

1) Damn, I saw this video a bit too late, but still... 2) There is Canon EF 28mm/1,8, and it's still in stores. 3) I still own my dad's Minolta srT303b (srT202 in the US I believe) with 50/1,7 and I still shoot with it from time to time. 4) I don't shoot a lot of film lately (yet I had shot a lot of it before you was born), but if I would go to a trip with film cameras only I guess I would take my Olympus combo - OM2sp with 24, 50 and 135mm lenses, which are small enough to fit in the pocket, course without more focal lengths I feel like a invalid...

I have a similar setup. On my X-700 i use a Rokkor 50mm f1.2 or a 28mm f2.8. Both the MD so i can use it as a point and shoot when i need to (In program). On my SRT 303B i use a Rokkor 58mm f1.4 same as the one you have. That’s an awesome lens!! Probably the one i use and love the most. Cheers

I'm from Seattle and I've been back there recently to shoot, if I were you I'd bring which ever camera you're most comfortable with operating especially if you're going to be shooting more street portraits and subjects of that nature, I don't know you very well but you seem to thrive when using that F3 of your's. Also I would advise visiting Westlake Plaza and Pike Place Market for that style of shooting, mostly because they are tourists spots and attract all walks of life, other neighborhoods like Capitol Hill and Queen Anne will have more foot traffic as well. And I love how fairly light it is.

The F3 and the A-1 are pretty similar cameras. That's prob why you can't decide which one to take. For travel, I'd go with a 28mm ... so just take the Minolta with you. LoL Or, just leave the big cameras home while on vacation , and take a wide angle compact camera like the Olympus XA4 or Ricoh GR.
