The Camden battlefield in South Carolina is my favorite site to visit. I am glad American Battlefield Trust has an opportunity to preserve land at Hobkirks Hill in Camden. Thanks for the solid history lesson and the beautiful video of the site. Thanks for all that you do.

Thanks for promoting the saving of these sites. My 7th great grandfather fought in the Revolution. He and his sons were from S.C. One of his sons , Joseph Barber, was captured and died in a Camden jail. The stories are that he was starved to death. I'm proud to support A.B.C.

Here's in memory of Col. GUNBY who lived the rest of his life just 15 to 20 miles from here. (Near Snow Hill, MD.) He gave farmland to many of his men after the war and cared for some of the severely wounded. He is buried with family just down the road and certainly never forgot Hobkirk Hill.

Gen. Nathanael Greene's descendant, Gen. George Greene, played a key role in the defense of Culp's Hill at the battle of Gettysburg.

My husband had a 6th great grandfather who fought at the battle of Eutaw Springs in 1781. He was British but fought with the Americans (Patriots) under Colonel Francois Malmedy, under General Nathaniel Greene. He was wounded three times in that battle and finally had to be carried off the field. He survived and passed away in 1818. His name was Joseph Whiteley and is buried in Smithville Tennessee, about an hour and a half north of Chattanooga, where we r from. My husband and I would love for the Eutaw Springs battlefield site to be more preserved than what it is now. Not much of it is left except for a few markers and a patch of land which doesn’t cover but barely a fraction of the actual site. Can the Trust do anything for this historic site?

I'm not sure that EVERY battle site needs to be preserved; maybe I could be convinced. Looking across an open field (with nary a hill in sight) doesn't always add to our understanding. But I respect your enthusiasm.

Better buy up land now, so you can charge exhorbant amounts of money for it when they come around with the checkbook. Happens around ALL the battlefields. Yet not a patriotic citizen donates it.

Hi Friends - did that plot of land at Guilford ever get saved and restored? Was at the battlefield this past weekend for the anniversary of the battle.

If you pay enough money, you can get even more details about the battles, but only if you pay more for that to access.

Does anyone ever donate the land? Or do they all just cash in?
