It is disgrace that Big cats like Lions, Tigers, Pumas and Leopards are still being kept in Zoos for the entertainment of humans in the 21st centaury! Very few of these animals that have of been bred in captivity and then been released back into the wild in the name of so called conservation. If we want to save these iconic animals then we must focus on the protection and conservation of their natural habitats. Just think about it for a moment. How would you like to spend the rest of your life living in a cage, pacing up and down the bars and never ever being free to live your life. I am sure most people would soon go mad! Then why should any animal be held in cage, often they are living in cramped and appalling conditions! You can see the sadness in the eyes of these animals. They all belong to live a life free in the wild, but will spend the rest of their life living in a prison! Please sign the Born Free petition to call for the phasing out of the breeding of big cats in UK zoos, to ban the use of big cats for visitor experiences and improve the living conditions for big cats that are currently held in captivity. I dream and I hope that one day Zoos will be a thing of the past, and animals like Lions, Bears and Elephants will no longer be living in them.
