Probably the most useful R44 II video on you tube . It was like God just explained the meaning of life to me !

@@capecopters it's pure gold along with the video on magneto problems . You learn so much useless information in PPL theory but not information like this . It's pure gold and takes a lifetime to learn it by chance . Looking forward to more videos like this ! I'd love a video in the Robbie rotor head and why they are more susceptible to mast bumping than the Bell 206 .

Man, I can’t thank you enough for these videos. I’ll start a list of the many fuck ups I have pulled so we can see if I land somewhere in your top ten. As my old shop teacher, Mr. Long used to say as he would tap me on the shoulder and snap his fingers to get everyone’s attention, “boys, gather round. Ole Rex has a lesson for us today”.

Good stuff here. I'm flying my Raven II to Arizona this weekend. Should be a good opportunity to put these tips to good use. 👍

Everyone's got their own way. On a cold engine, i do a 3 second prime, then mixture off and crank. As soon as it lights, i move the mixture in about a quarter of the way and let it run for a couple of seconds like that then put the mixture the rest of the way in. (putting the mixture all the way in too quickly, seems to stall it out) Warm engine, i do the same thing, just with a 1 second prime to clear the vapor from the lines (you can hear the pump change pitch)

Curious question, do you have an R66? I see (what I assume is you) flying around Cape all the time and always wondered!
@capecopters2 жыл бұрын
No , we don't have one, but I do fly them on Maintenance flights. Your probably seeing some of our customers R66's. There are a few in the area.

@@capecopters I’m not a pilot so I can’t really tell them apart😂 I just see the red one and the black one flying around🤷🏼♂️ Or the gyrocopter. I always assume it’s you😂 Thanks for answering my question!

Would the length of time priming be affected by OAT?

if, it takes between an hour and an hour and a half after the engine cut off. Is the engine considered cold? How long should I prime in this case?
@capecopters9 ай бұрын
I would only prime about 1-2 seconds. Motor it, wait for it to "hit" and advance the primer. That should do it!

Hi Paul could you do the exact same video for the Raven 1,as per your earlier comments in the video our Raven 1 is hard to start for the first start of the day…..D

Sure, I'll work on that next. Got to pick up a helo in California and bring it back to Missouri, but I'll get on that soon as I'm back.

Mixture in, Pull collective up, prime three times, down collect down, start. try that

If the cold engine doesn’t start after the 6 second prime, what do you do next? Prime again?
@capecopters2 жыл бұрын
Prime for one second only and try it again, if you have gas running out of the overflow which will be right under the center of the engine, then it’s flooded, leave the mixture out until it hits, and then advance the mixture in. Should be good

When your about to start your Robinson do yourself a favor, stop and ask yourself if you feel like dying today. Then get out of it, sell it, and buy a helicopter that isn't a death machine.

My advice is don't start it, leave the cockpit and go find something else to do.
