Finally got my radiator changed on my 03 Pilot. I didn't remove the grill or the fans, maybe that's why it took me over 8 hours to finish. Pepboys wanted 511 dollars if I supplied the parts and coolant so it was well worth the trouble.

Good video, about to do this on a 2005 to avoid the tranny/radiator milkshake problem ive been reading about. Just a note. You mention in the video that the top bolts corroded due to exposure to antifreeze but I dont this thats right since antifreeze by its nature contains anti-corrosion inhibitors to keep the engine from corroding. But I could be mistaken. Great vid, camera movement was excellent.

Thanks a lot for the video. I'm trying to change my front motor mount and I have to remove the cooler fan. I see there are 2 bolts that hold it on the top but are there any bolts on the bottom part or it just slides on the holes ? @5:29
@chillymooose3 жыл бұрын
Yes there are two bolts holding the bottom end as you can see @5:29. They get corroded as you can see in the video and sometimes are hard to get out. Good luck and thanks for watching.

2004 is not working this way. (unless I take entire bumper with aka steel bar and cover) I had to remove battery and tray and unbolt fuse box to take both fans out there is absolutely no room to move radiator with fans between core support upper bar and a/c condenser without messing the high pressure lines also had to delete an a/t cooler hose bracket welded to the steel a/t tube attached to the radiator and remove the vertical bar with a hood latch

Wow That is not good Please keep us posted as to how you removed it

@@chillymooose I removed the battery , its plastic tray and the fuse box mount; unbolted and unplugged both fans from radiator; removed the center piece between the fans with hood latch attached and placed it on the top of the engine; I removed driver side fan through the gap between the core support and the battery shelf (after disconnecting fan switch wiring from it) Next I unbolted and moved the passenger side fan along the radiator to the place of driver side fan and removed it trough the gap as well (after removing a/c compressor wire hook from the fan shroud) I pulled the radiator trough the gap between a/c condenser and upper core support (had to tilt it and move it left to right few times to clear the a/t cooler metal line which tried to catch on the core support) Reinstalling fans to the new radiator was fun! the whole job took 4 hours , including filling and burping system

Nice video. I have a short wire coming from my fan shroud and terminates at the hood latch bracket. Any idea what that's for?
@chillymooose Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Unfortunately I have no idea what that could be.

About to change out my Wife's radiator on her 08 pilot tomorrow. I'm really glad there is a video like this out there. Thank you man. Did anything surprise you along the way? like was there a special tool you needed that you didn't know about or anything like that? Thanks in advance
@chillymooose2 жыл бұрын
My pleasure. No special tools needed. I captured everything in the video. Good luck and thanks for watching.

What's a ratiator?

Is it possible to remove the radiator without the fans?
@chillymooose2 жыл бұрын
@red street. Yes it’s possible You would just have to disconnect the fans, while the whole assembly is in the engine bay. I just found it easier the remove the entire assembly and disconnect the fans while everything was out.
