In this video I demonstrate how to make your own pillow & linen spray. It's very easy to make and it smells lovely! Here is the recipe:
1 spray bottle, tinted or stainless steel
1-1/4 c. Distilled Water (more or less depending on bottle size)
1 T. Witch Hazel
25-30 drops essential oil of choice (I used pure lavender oil)
Wash and rinse bottle thoroughly. Remove sprayer and using a small funnel, add the witch hazel and essential oil. Swirl or stir to combine. Add the distilled water, attach sprayer top and shake well to mix. Give it a good shake just before using. It's now ready to spray your bed linens and pillows!
My channel contains video reviews of products I own & have purchased with my own money. I am not in any way affiliated with any company that manufactures, sells or represents these products. Will the oil stain my linen? I love lavender scent, so relaxing. Adding lavender to my wool dryer balls, great idea. Glad YOU thought of it, I didn't 🤣

I love lavender too! I have not had any issues with the pillow spray staining anything yet. I usually open the sprayer to it's widest spray setting so it's makes a light mist rather than the long stream or squirt, if you know what I mean. And I will spray it just above my pillow, allowing the mist to gently fall over it, rather than spraying right at it. I always add drops of lavender to my dryer balls when drying bed linens or my pajamas/unmentionables. :-) Thanks for watching.

@helpfulnatural

What other ingredients are in the toner? If there are any fragrance ingredients like floral extracts, they will become part of the overall scent of your pillow spray. Witch hazel can be found in any grocery store where they sell rubbing alcohol and bandages. The NOW brand is very affordable and is easy to find in natural food stores, vitamin shops and online. I also trust the brand for purity in their manufacturing practices. There are loads of more expensive brands out there that make all kinds of lofty claims. But for my own personal use, NOW hasn't let me down yet. Another affordable essential oil brand is Aura Cacia. It can be found almost everywhere including grocery stores. It's inexpensive and a decent quality. Hope this helps. :) Thanks for watching!

What is witch hazel? I'm not from the U.S and I have no idea what this is...is it perfumer alcohol? Why don't you use polisorbets to mix the water with oils?
@helpfulnatural
@helpfulnatural 2 жыл бұрын
Witch hazel is an astringent that can be purchased with or without added alcohol. It's less drying and caustic than rubbing alcohol and can be used as a toner on the skin. I've personally never used polysorbates but witch hazel is a much gentler ingredient.

@helpfulnatural
@helpfulnatural 4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can use whatever oil you prefer but do a little research on them first to make sure they won't be irritating to the skin or keep you awake all night. For instance; citrus oils like lemon and orange are stimulating so they may not help you sleep. A great source of info is mountainroseherbs.com. They have a wealth of information on essential oils. I’m not very fond of the smell of lavender don’t know why many people love it. Instead of lavender could I use sandalwood?
@helpfulnatural
@helpfulnatural Жыл бұрын
You certainly could try it, as long as you do not have an allergy to it. I love sandalwood and use it in my oil burner and diffuser. I developed an allergy to fragrances in skin care products so I no longer spray my bed linens to reduce the chance of having a bad reaction. I now only diffuse it into the air. Hope this helps.

@@helpfulnatural Yes I thought it was odd you sprayed your bed linen with it. I remember my great grandmother used to make her own sprays however she would spray the mattress and the pillows with it and then put the sheets and pillow case over so it didn't have direct contact with your skin. Thanks for sharing the knowledge much appreciated.

@@russellwood8750 When I used to spray my sheets and pillowcases, I would always let it dry completely. With or without an allergy though, essential oils can be very caustic if not used correctly. Thanks for watching! 🙂
