I went to horse shoeing school years ago to learn more. I already knew how to shoe and trim because of working as an apprentice. To this day I’m amazed at all the man made terms used to describe a certain hoof capsule or lameness. It’s really quite a fraternity.

I love your videos because you explain so much about the anatomical issues and how they are impacting the horse and why the trimming/,shoeing is helping. I also appreciate that you sometimes explain that shoes are necessary but not always permanent. So many people are anti shoes and they don't realize that they can be a great tool to rehabbing a foot..... plus as you have explained in the past that sometimes a horses problems require shoes to give him the most comfort and longevity of hoof health

Lee, what made you go with the full pad on this one? What made you want to “protect” the toe? Was it depth from radiographs?

When you have a mystery lameness that isn't easy to pinpoint, you have to check your bases! Since this horse was reactive to hoof testers, we wanted to protect the whole hoof without losing frog support!

My horse want lame last week just like the horse in the video Had the vet come out and she block the nerve in the hoof, and he went sound. Hess getting x-rays Monday to see what's costing his heel pain. hoping he gets better

I had a farrier who took my horses shoes off, tried to let her go barefoot. It ended up being a nightmare. He then came back and put shoes back on her, and her feet were very sore and bruised. He quicked her, and she exploded. Poor girl, it was horrible. Now she is scared of the farrier, and I don't use him anymore. He was awful! I wish I could have you do my horses feet. You are awesome.

Hi! He is driving the horse forward faster at a trot so we can examine how the horse is moving in order to properly treat his lameness! The flag is used to push the horse in the circle faster! We watch how the horse moves in order to know what is needing fixed in their hooves!

Hi! We weren't expecting a huge massive change in the horse, but we thought we saw some improvements like his willingness to move out come up a bit! We are hoping as we continue working on this horse and correcting this issue we will be able to get him sound!

Such a shame to leave a horse lame for so long and some people don't realize how much time and slow correction from yourself that it takes. Not only the foot but whole body muscle structure needs re balancing. Well done you guys. :)

Was the end trotting supposed to be better than the beginning ? It looked just as lame to me. Why not just retire the horse? Or if it’s in constant pain even in pasture setting - euthanasia would be the kindest option.

Hi Sharon! Our end evaluation was not expected to show a complete recovery, just some improvement! We evaluated that the horse was still moving lame, with a little more willingness though. We plan to continue documenting and following this case so we want it as transparent as possible!

I’m not a horse, nor have I ever owned one, but just from my experience with my own human body, I’m thinking that he’s still sore from all the time he’s been standing & walking on that malformed hoof; and that it’ll get better with time. I know that when I pull something (muscle or tendon) in my own body it can take several days to recover. 🤔

That horse has a few more issues than just the front feet. I am going to say stifled at one point in time. The lameness was coming from the back, pegginess from the front. Probably take a few days to get use to the new setup in shoes.

When a horse gets so bad he can't even stand on his own feet-- time to lay him down. Not try and come up with ways to get around it. 100 bucks says his feet still hurt after nailing that concoction on.

The hooves are just too long and uncomfortable with pressing bars and heels, long toe, too much material on the hoof... You could have just trim the hoof correctly barefoot, then the horse would have also walked again. Sticking irons underneath is only symptom control but does not fix the cause. The pain is only stunned by iron
