I saw a lot of myself in her. A lost soul from Texas just trying to stay alive. I found myself and got clean and sober 18 years ago July 11th. It was do it or die for me. I found out I had cancer and was in an abusive, toxic relationship. I stopped the day I found out I was sick. That was over 18 years ago. I recently found out I have congestive heart failure and rapidly progressing COPD but, I know if I hadn't stopped using I would have died 15 years ago and not have been around to see my 7 beautiful grandchild come into this world.

My God! I wonder how many people have lost their home because of a health issue? How many don't get treated, because of the fear of losing everything! I just went through this. I have a bone infection, that takes 6 weeks treatment, in the hospital. I would lose everything. Ten days into the hospital stay, I left, because I was going to lose my income. I am paraplegic. I have to have a place to stay. While I was in the hospital, they dropped me and broke my right leg in three places and refused to fix it, so here I sit, with a broken femur, tibia and knee and hopefully I got enough of the medicine for the infection. In the hospital, I felt like I was going to die. I'd rather die at home. Poor lady! She has a good attitude. I hope you got that guy in the wheelchair a tent. I heard him say something I say: "I need to lay flat". Thank You for helping people. I know some don't like what you are doing, but that's not what Jesus said!

A lot of these ppl get treated like trash so just a conversation like a "normal" human helps lift their spirits. I did one this morning in MI and he told me God bless. Meant the world helping him

Michael, we are cut from the same cloth. I have been trying to help homeless citizens for years. I had a lawsuit settlement against Uber for $10,000 a couple years ago. It went into preparing full meals, with drinks and even some sweet item for a desert. I found single parents that had issues with providing proper nutrition for their children, as well as seniors that cannot afford much food. So I had bags of groreries, that they chose to be delivered. But I found an issue that I find hard to deal with. I spent a decade on the streets. I am a disabled veteran that found myself on the streets in my 50s. I was going through major depression. I was always thinking about suicide. I made three attempts. After I recovered and got off the streets and into my own place, I found a few people who have used me to talk about their issues. I understand their issues from my own experiences, Even now, 10 years after leaving the streets, I still find tears in my eyes when I remember the times I tried to kill myself. Those I meet that know about me overcomong the depression, with no meds, and getting off thhe streets, have sought out my council for them. But this is what happens to me. I have found it more and more and more difficult to keep my own feelings straight. I find myself crying at a street kight when I see a homeless older woman trying to get across the streets with horns blaring, or any number of triggers that affect me, I have had people say that their depression is gone after Iexplained how to lift it. But it seems, after years of doing this that I sometimes cry spontanieously. Most mormings, (I am alone in life), I awake withtears in my eyes, which continue until I can find a distraction, I need to find a way to be able to distance myself from the people I help, with being cold. I lived their life. Just bringing up the memories of what I realize many of them are still going through is hard for me. One factor that likely is in play is that a decade before landing on the streets I was an intuitive reader in Sedona, AZ. so I already had a well established sense of empathy and compassion, so I think I have overdosed, in a way, of empathy and compassion. I can operate well while I am with these people, and they feel heard and understood, but later I will suddenly burst into tears. I have been in a grocery line ans through the windo I see a homeless person trying to get some change, or being harrased by someone and I break down crying right in the checkout line. I am a big burly man. I have always been a strong man, but this issue is getting worse. I have tears right now. I guess the point of this post is to see your thoughts about how to stop the crying. Maybe others can give me ideas, The Veterans Administration has listed one of my disabilities as PTSD from life issues. Along with disability from the Air Force. I live in Tucson and see what you see every day. How did we get here? Forty years ago there would be a few homeless men in front of the old downtown library (Children’s Museum now) and that was it. Now 2500 plus! We are failing as a nation to let this happen. Thank you for what you are doing.

I just can’t imagine living like this. It would feel so hopeless. For the past few months my family has been living paycheck to paycheck, just barely able to make our house payment every month.
