I made a decision early in life to stay the hell out of Alaska. My uncle went there in the early '60's and died there near Soldotna. He did come home to Montana a few times. In probably 1961 he walked home from Alaska to southeast Montana. I was 4 or 5 years old. My auntie, his baby sister was about 11. I remember her climbing up on his lap crying. How do you walk from Alaska to Montana someone asked him. He said, "You just get those boots swinging one in front of the other."

Lived in Alaska in the 1970-80s your times more likely to die there, at ages 15-25 , because distances to medical care! Year I left, a guy on his honeymoon, got his boots stuck in the mud, the tide came in, and took his life! (Hypothermia!)

Yesterday I accidentally came across a video stating you had passed. Then after attaching a message sharing my feeling about you and your entire family. I found a news article that said it was false. But researching further I discovered your KZbin channel. I’ve been watching all the videos I could find. I watched Alaska the Last Frontier with interest from the start. I wrote emails to the Discovery Channel when there was talk of dropping the program and attempted to make contact with you. I watched your family grow and reunite then when we almost seemed like relatives, the shows stopped and another family I had grown to admire was ripped out of our lives. I believe anyone who watched regularly felt the same loss. This has gotten way too emotional but I’m elated that your work and challenges are again being shared.
