@datcomicnerd22123 жыл бұрын
No your helping them
@SH-ln1uh3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you're not supposed to do this. If you had a bad sunburn and were peeling would you want someone to rip the dead skin off of you. You have to be careful as some areas may not be ready to be peeled off and are sticking to the reptile and you can rip/hurt their new skin. If you want to do this you're supposed to soak them in warm water for about 20 minutes and then GENTLY pull the skin, to see if it will come off.

Just got a 2 year old Tegu yesterday that was not cared for correctly. She is missing 5 toes due to stuck shed, she has layers of stuck shed on her tail, and is half the size she should be for her age. Other than soaking what do you recommend for getting stuck shed off tail?
@illdaddyrod4 жыл бұрын
First off thanks for rescuing that tegu. How is its demeanor? Friendly? Mine has trouble with shed on the lower half of tail. Keeping the humidity up to at least 70% will help a lot. Soaking in the tub daily will help too. I will rub baby oil on Buddy's tail as well. I've heard KY jelly works well too. That's about all you can really do. Buddy lets me pick at his tail to help. He doesn't mind at all. If yours will let you do that will help too.
@figuresix4 жыл бұрын
@@illdaddyrod She is so far not to bad. I do wear gloves because she has food aggression and thinks anything coming near her is food, but once i pick her up she relaxes and loves the attention. Ill give the baby oil a try, also be taking her to vet soon for a checkup due to person who had her never took her in, and kept her in a 40 breeder, and no uvb. But she does not seem to have mbd. I have her in with 8 to 10 inches of substrate and she loves it.. I dont think shes ever been able to dig and bury herself before. So thank you for the information I appreciate it very much.
