Measuring the water dumped vs collected litterally blew my mind. Haha. I've owned mine 5 years and cleaned many times, but I somehow managed to drop a cigarette butt in the drain hole. So was trying to find a way to clean the drain interior. Managed to get it out, vacuumed the plastic "drain pan" and then did same to ensure no clogs within. Thanks for the videos man. I am currently cleaning mine. I noticed something odd though. In the front there is what appears to be another drain. Facing the car, there are the drains on either side of the battery (that you showed), but on the right side of the car (US passenger side) there appears to be another one. If you start at the drain near the battery on that side, then move forward until you reach the wall, and then move right (outboard), you will come to another one. I don't know if it's a drain or not, but it looks exactly like the others. I'll come back when I've checked it out.
@HelpMeDIY3 ай бұрын
+@tweetdriver let is know what you found :)
@tweetdriver3 ай бұрын
@@HelpMeDIY What I have found is that there are two drains on either side of the battery. Go forward and outboard from the ones you showed and you should find them. So there are seven drains, counting the fuel filler drain. When I ran the trombone cleaner through my drains I can tell when it has gone through all the way, but it doesn't come out under the car in any of them! The drain tubes don't come all the way through on my car. I don't know if that's a problem, but all of the water I poured into them came out underneath. Well, at least the rear ones. They drain out right where expected, so putting a bowl to catch that water is easy. The front ones, on the other hand, seem to end above some other structural bits underneath, and the water falls on top of a kind of skid plate and then where it comes out depends on where the car is parked. All four of them drained out of that in the same place, on the lower side of the car (parked on a slight slope that made the water go toward the driver's side.

Great video! I went through the flooding/replacement of the module nightmare when I first bought my Boxster. The mechanic schooled me on keeping the tubes clean. I put the module in the waterproof cover that is mentioned in the comments, but every time the car gets wet, so does the carpet under the drivers seat. The tube is clear of any debris. I keep the car in a garage and never drive in the rain, which is not very handy. So, I have pulled the left wheel and removed the plastic inner fender cover, exposing the plastic drain tube to get a good look. There must be a leak where the plastic tube connects to the metal body, but I am reluctant to pull on the tube from the outside to check the connection for fear of breaking it, or not being able to get it back together with sealant on it. Any suggestions?

+Mauricio Baez drill a hole in the floorboard? I guess you could. I’d rather just check the drains once a year personally.
@mauriciobaez36452 жыл бұрын
@@HelpMeDIY Totally agree with the keeping up with the established holes, but I refer to foreseeable events, for instance one could unforgivably leave a window open or even slightly open, additionally, the actual drain spots might be seriously challenged under continuous periods of pouring, even for days. Manufactures simply comply with providing a basic solution for perfect scenarios, outside of that, they look forward to rip the benefits of every owner's mistakes. I'm talking about very costly damages here. Now the dime size circular hole I am considering would be joined by a L type pipe extending along the outside of the floorboard. Only issue I would study is the kinds of physics law to help prevent water from coming in, in case one drive through a flooded road. I had a recent experience with flooding in mine and perhaps scaped damaging the ECU because of the immediate response. I am currently not sure how it happened exactly although I found some substantially obstructed drain spots. I have not yet properly inspected the driver's door for potential leak spots as I noticed the fabric in the bottom of the driver's door panel badly soaked and wet and likely the way water went inside and into the floor. So I will invite you to explore this facts also, as you are more capable to create the mechanism. It would make up for an interesting video episode.
