Not privy to why Phil is gone but this guy is dog shit. I’ve been a fan of Phil this channel and store for 8 years and knowing this guy is Phil’s replacement is really dissatisfying. I honestly think that Fretted Americana needs to not try and reproduce what once was with this joker. But to create something new for its guitar review videos.

I applaud this guy so much. Takes balls to step into such huge shoes. But I love that he brings his own aura. He’s not trying to be super excited all over the place. It’s important to separate trying to DO what Phil did so well, which was demonstrate guitars and make a good video, with trying to BE a new Phil. This guy is a good fit feel. Just hope he has enough songs remembered. Let’s do it!

Yeah it's sad how people are constantly comparing. If you match someone's style too much, you're a "ripoff" or "hack." But if you have your own, then people complain that the other person did it better. You literally can't win with people. Funny thing is the ones complaining usually have nothing to contribute of their own, and instead act like we're all here to entertain them. Conceited.

I think he could structured the review a little bit. Like, neck pickup, middle, bridge, and after the distorted options.

@Quetzalcoatl9995 жыл бұрын
Not likely. I can't remember the video but he was saying he wasn't enjoying as much as he used to. Phil seems like a really positive dude who likes to keep moving, so probably got tired of the repetitiveness of the same room of guitars and also the people constantly saying he was on drugs, playing things wrong and complaining about him playing the same riffs.

Greetings FA, no need to apologize or explain stuff about Michael, let the guy be and keep the videos coming. At the end we understand that you need to do the demos and someone has to take the job. I am also glad you promote the guys in the videos, I mean look at Jared now, he has an Epiphone signature model! And Phil is with Jon Bovine himself! I do think the sound has changed a bit since Phil used that studio and even Jared as well. Perhaps you could try bringing Michael back to the store and having use the amps"we are used to"? Cheers and keep up the good work

Good to see you back! Some nice guitars too. I like this guy's playing - very casual feel. Maybe do a bit more talk on the guitars and less jamming, but its great playing! On the Phil X thing - Phil was awesome cos he was so natural as a character - you felt like that's just him being him, he could be pretty much just be your kind-of-wacky neighbour. The other guys (in comparison) come across as playing the 'cool rock guy' with all the "hey man's" and hip clothes and stuff. So don't be too hard on those who loved Phil - impossible to replace as a character...but this guy is a good replacement as a rockin' guitarist!

Awesome! Regarding these older vintage guitars, if you have one that has been moderately used over the years, does it help or hurt if the frets have been replaced? Just curious how that affects the resale value. I'm assuming you want to keep everything original? Again, thanks Fretted Americana & Michel Grant, love the videos!

Frettedanericana....Fuck the haters. I’ll use the words your most famous presenter uses a lot. “They’re just being pussies”. I’ll admit it took me a couple videos to get used to Michael and his presentations, but that’s not to take away from his talent and seems like a great guy. I just got used to Phil and now it’s time for a change. Change is good! I’m really enjoying Michaels presentation now and REALLY enjoy the guitars. I kind of agree, I'm not a fan of Bon Jovi AT ALL, instead I like Phil's style so much I find him quite wasted in that band. He has an energy, an attitude, a rush in his playing alone that would make anyone close to him sound like a wimp.
@mtl475 жыл бұрын
I absolutely hate Bon Jovi. BUT, they are a legendary Rock band and I'd imagine they also pay very good. As a studio musician you don't make much, so it's gotta feel pretty good to be paid handsomely for such an amazing talent. I'm happy for Phil, if a man should be paid according to how much talent he has, Phil should be a millionaire.
