I still can't fathom how this many seemingly normal thinking people changed to follow a mentally crazy lunatic so fully. These weren't stupid people and certainly old enough to be aware of what they did. I can't excuse their choices as young and dumb. As young people of ages 17-24ish we often di things we regret and don't see the danger in those choices but to go to the point of murder, most would know it is wrong and choose to do the right thing. I just believe to do something like murder you have to already have that kind of mindset, one they wouldn't dare own out loud but would to another that shared their kind of thinking. I believe you attract the same kind of people you yourself are in your heart and soul. You have an evil soul you tend to link up to another that shares your thinking. Putting gasoline to an already burning fire is what these men and women were. To think you have to murder to please the person that is supposed to love and protect you yet he did exactly the opposite of what they say he gave them. He became their father, their teacher, throwing away the morals and teaching their loving parents taught them for a man that sent them to commit horrific crimes on innocent people to feed the evil control in his own mind all while keeping his hands clean. No loving friend, father, would date put someone they love in a place to kill or lose their own life. What is saddest to me is innocent people died a horrific death, a child didn't get a chance to live and all for his crazy ego and evil intentions. He wanted to make others he was jealous of end up lost to all chance of happiness to mirror the life he himself lived. He wanted to kill all joy since he himself had no idea what happiness truely was or what love should have been.

Charlene Godbee She didn’t kill anyone. “Attempted” to assassinate Ford but there was no bullet in the chamber. Most teenagers have arguments with their parents and some invariably leave home. It's part of growing up. The difference here is these girls fell into hard drugs given to them by a criminal. Once you start taking drugs your life is on the way to ruin.

I know Manson was heavily involved in Tate's murder, but I cant help but to find it odd that her pedophile husband was off making a film ,Rosemary's Baby. I think he's an evil man. Could he have met Charlie and planned this? I never felt like the public got the whole truth about why that happened to those ppl on that particular nite.

I think if I was introduced and turned onto the "Manson Family" as a late teen/twenty something after spending time with Charlie and getting to know him, I would have probably reversed mind fucked him, or just punched him in the head and knocked him out!! and been like you are Cheese.

You guys don't understand how the wacko women's minds work. - every time they get into some BS, it's always somebody else's fault. My ex was arrested 3 TIMES or bad checks, and said it was all my fault !! When I pointed out that it wasn't MY signature on those checks, and wasn;t my name on those arrest warrants, her reply was "I don't care it's still you're fault" And, that wasn't all that unusual

Susan Atkins never actually killed anyone. She was completely guilty and deserving of life imprisonment for being an accessory to murder and playing her part, but she never actually stabbed anyone to death. She made the stupid mistake of saying she did when in Sybil Brand to come across as tough. (Note that in her Grand Jury Testimony, she denied killing Tate. So, she went back and forth on the issue, which understandably is confusing to people.) She was scared and remembered Manson's instructions from previous that if ever in jail/prison, you have to put on a tough front. Tex Watson confirms this. If you doubt it, why would Watson state that he, not Susan, killed Tate if it was not true? What would he gain from taking the full blame for Tate's death? Again, Susan deserved to be in prison for life for her crimes, but she never actually killed anyone. I believe it's time to set the record straight.

I suppose it’s possible that Morrison met Manson at some point, and maybe Cass as well; that time period in LA had all kinds of “fringe” people mingling with musicians, actors and other artists. But -as far as I know - there’s been no one of any “prominence” who was around at that time, and moving through the social circles of famous people, who have confirmed unequivocally that either Jim (or Cass) ever actually had contact with Manson. There’s some evidence that suggests that it did happen; based on the fact that other famous musicians absolutely did know Manson (like The Beach Boys) - but most of the stories circulating that Jim met Manson, are all various “degrees of separation”, theories ... the “this guy knew Manson, and he knew this girl, and she knew this guy who knew Jim, so it’s possible” scenarios. Though, I wouldn’t go as far to say that it didn’t happen, or that it was all just a myth, either. Understanding the social fabric and vibe of that time period - especially in LA where so many musicians were living - suggests that it certainly “could” have happened. It’s also understandable that those who did actually know Manson might very well have denied it - or at least not talked about it - after the murders occurred in August of ‘69. So, yeah, maybe Jim did know him, and Cass, too. It could have happened. But, “could have happened” isn’t the same as “absolutely did happen”.
