Exzema will absolutely make you more prone to a Hema allergy, but a lot of nail stuff can irritate it. The latex tape would probably help a lot

Also maybe take a Benadryl before you do your nails next. If it lessens symptoms, it’s an allergy

My friend gets her nails done regularly and she has eczema really bad on her hands but from the pictures you showed I’m wondering if it’s a hema allergy... You’re welcome! You may want to recommend her taking Benadryl before she gets her nails done to see if it helps. If it lessens the symptoms, even if it’s still there, just less, then it’s an allergy. But acrylic dust can irritate eczema as well

Helpful tip when working with gel gravity is your freind. Tip the finger so it is pointing down when done flip hand over and gravity will help level bumps and form a nice apex

I get it. I have no nail to speak of. Too flimsy for tips really. Make sure you extra clean the brush after! The residue is the only real downside

Thank you for this video! I have this kit I just was scared to use it now with my allergies. I use protein bond every time I do my nails…wow! Eye opener! I’m sorry I was on not on KZbin for lent so I’m catching up to all the videos. I’m excited to try it now. I want to try a hema free polygel because it’s a little more similar to acrylic. I hate the stickiness of gel and polygel but I’m at a point in my allergies that I need to find a system I can work with and stick with it and master it. I’m still grieving over the acrylic because I have to use an odorless product at home. If a company made hema free odorless monomer I would buy it in a heartbeat. Thank you for the hema free videos. OMG I’m so glad I found your video! I recently developed a HEMA allergy and also use the Synergy gels. I was literally about to bite the bullet and purchase Light Elegance but now I know it’s the protein bond causing my reaction.

I think it would benefit them to either put a disclaimer on the packaging, or remove the protein bond from the kits and market it as Hema free. I know bonder works better than primer, but a lot of bonder has Hema. Aimelie makes a bonder that is Hema free. They have great products as well.

Wow! How did I miss this? I bought this same kit a couple years ago when I became allergic to acrylic (hema). I couldn’t use it and ended up trashing it because I thought It was the same as all the other brands. I knew the protein bond contained HEMA but didn’t put the two and two together, I just assumed it all contained it. Now I am going to repurchase this gel kit and try it again. I fell so dumb not even realizing it was the only the protein bond that I can’t use.

I'm so glad I found this video I am a newly-licensed nail tech and have been having light elegance pushed on me quite a bit, and it is very expensive for just starting out and I have IBD and Young nails products and I'm glad you explained what product actually had the Hema in it and I just went into my salon and threw those away. But my question is, when doing nail prep is a primer necessary? Or can you just dehydrate the nail with 99% alcohol then go ahead and do the hard gel or acrylic enhancements?

@@kristimayes2017 the last time I did my nails I forgot oops to put the protein Bond on. But I couldn't remember which ones I did I didn't. I had reactions on a few. The ones that I did just the base and then the color gel. Perfect flawless my nails are healing even. The other nails that I tried a tip instead of building I'll just make my own nail now. With the nail form. So I thought I'm going to just try how I think it's affecting me badly that nail must come off today and I did one just with the basin builder gel. It's fine. And you have confirmed my assumptions. Yep it's that protein crap. And I think I'm also reacting to the glue from putting a tip on. Thank you so much. Thank you thank you. On my pinky on my other nail I put just a glue tip cut it short filed it a little didn't put anything on top of it. It's affecting my nail. You put the nail in the coffin for me thank you so much.

It’s possible it’s also the glue. Hema is a monomer, it helps things dry and harden so it’s in some glue as well

“Ooz off of ghostbuster,” I definitely belong here🤣🤣🤣. Are you saying that you use base coat with gel products or with Polygel? I don’t use any kind of solutions with gel but I do use base coat to move Polygel around. I found that the slip solution or acetone creates crevices in the Polygel if you over saturate your brush. But sometimes the base coat makes the Polygel a little softer so you gotta be careful with how much you use on that. “Get it together Kristi it’s and allergy video.” Fun video as always.

I’m throwing mine out now, good point! I thought this whole time I got it from beetles gel polish & Polygel but now I’m thinking it was the protein bond this whole time. I kept using it even after my blisters & you get it pure torture no wonder it took almost 6 months to heal. For this with this allergy my doctor has me on the Dupixent injection every other week & has helped me tons it rewires your alllergy cells inside your body to almost make you immune to your allergy. Just thought I would share what helped me hope that’s ok, if not I’ll delete comment. Thanks again (sorry for all the comments)

It could also be the gel polish. Most of them have Hema. I don’t think beetles is Hema free. Same with polygel. But the protein bond does as well. I’m gonna pin this comment for anyone else suffering. I really love ibd hard gel, and aimelie builder in a bottle. I’ve had the aimelie on my nails for 4 weeks. No lifting, it held up so well. No need to be sorry! Any info that could help someone is always welcome! Plus commenting helps content creators engagement. The more comments there are, the more the platform pushes the video. Why is white gel so hard to cure fully? I did white hard gel on my daughter and when I was removing it to do new ones 3 weeks later some were not cured fully. Did I do something wrong?

Not at all. It’s cause the light can’t get through. I use a 120 watt lamp so it helps, but super thin layers And cure them twice. That helps. I did some blue polygel back awhile ago, Two weeks later when i took them off, It was like a boston cream donut

I have issues with heat spikes on all gel. I refused to change lamps cause I’m impatient, so it’s my fault. But my friend told me if i use regular base coat and wipe off the tacky layer, then do it again, it helps insulate from the heat. It helped me a little

@@tatyoh7 any base coat works. It helped my gel stay longer too. Just make sure to wipe it. It’s possible, i was using an 84watt lamp and burning the crap out of myself. I tried a lower one and between the base coat and that it helped. They said no more than 48 watt

How can u know it is hema allergy or exema? I have some reaction, skin peeling and itcy cuticles. Happens everytime and i take nails off after few days. But its start like itching and time to time its get better, not ichy but then i have like little spots top off my fingers and skin starts peeling. I have think its some kind of allergy. Hema free products is coming on mail and i hope they dont cause reaction but now i start thinking that exema cause i have that backround on my childhood. 🤔 But first time i dont understand what happend and i just keep nails like week and fingers hurt so much.. so maybe its still allergy cause i think it get worst if i keep nails..

It sounds like hema. Exzema is possible, but the timing makes me think it’s hema. Does it happen when you use regular Polish? Or just acrylic/gel? Does anything else cause it on your hands?

Now just trying to find gel polish that not cause reaction and i have test lot of different kind which say is lot of free but hema free is only one i have not tested. I have used hydrocortison and it help little bit but have to take nails off still everytime

@@sinniik3520 if hydrocortisone helped a little, it’s most likely an allergy. Which is definitely a good thing, as opposed to nails triggering Exzema. If it’s Exzema, you can’t really work around it. Another thing you may want to try, is putting a barrier between your skin/nails and whatever product you’re using. Such as the peel off latex. My friend uses it all around the nail bed no matter what she’s using, just to be sure not to irritate it
