It's been maybe 10 or so years since I last practiced HEMA back in Italy, and i have to say, you guys all rock. The skill level has increased dramatically, to my eye, at least. Bravi tutti, grande Federico, and special shout out to Simone Normanni for landing that leg cut!

very interesting. I tottaly see your brain and instinct working in balance, it's awesome! you're such a master of measure and tempo it's a pain to get in misura, to begin with😆 I wish I was in Italy for some intensive ass kicking(mine) daily sparring....argh.....I'd learn so much against you and your flow.

When I saw how Simone was set on the left at around 5:25 I wanted to you to cavazione to his outside with a thrust pulling his crossbody parry that he had set and cavazione back to his inside finishing the thrust home. That is one of my favorite maneuvers in smallsword when they have you engaged in carte/quarte and you draw them across to tierce/carte-over-the-arm with a disengagement and then disengage again as they respond driving the point home into the opening you have provoked. Did he catch your blade before you could cavazione again or were you hoping to beat him with the cavazione into the thrust on the outside? I really appreciate seeing raw footage of matches to analyze. I don't get enough free play/sparring time with the way the world has been for the last 2 years so I have been a total glutton for watching all the matches that I can. Looking forward to you doing some commentary/break down of the fencing phrases here. Cheers!

Basically I tried to thrust on the outside, it got parried and I recovered with parry riposte. ;-)

I was wondering if the rules assign different point values for different target? Thank you for posting this. I see the work you have been doing on thrusts really coming out! Regards, David Ito

Yes, 3 point head and chest thrusts. 2 everything else.

Any particular reason you chose to use the Sigi Concept in this tournament? Instead of using one you're more used to that is
@FedericoMalagutti2 жыл бұрын
Well actually I’m using the concept since 5 months so I’m pretty used to it! There’s not a particular reason, I find it good for tournaments overall

Cool video but i wouldnt call a modern longsword turnament "hema", i would say after slowing down the slomo only 50% of the called hits were good, the rest were bad calls (it sounded like a hit), or hits with the flat of the blade. Otherwise awesome video! ps. i put in youtube search: hema in 2022. and your video was the first one

I love watching this stuff but . . . I'm an american gun(okay airsoft) fighter and I can not tell who won in a lot of the matches. maybe my eyes are just too slow but can I get a little red/green light so I know who hit who? it looked to me like you won most of them and even the one's you lost seemed to be just little cuts not the sword to the side of the head like you gave a lot of them(well besides the leg cut at least). which means, I would think you would win even more often in real life though you got a tiny cut.
@FedericoMalagutti2 жыл бұрын
Yes, unfortunately I got some bad luck with judging in certain situations this time. But I don’t discuss what the judges see, even if sometimes is frustrating, I just try to win another bout! Ahah ;-)
@FingerstoFight2 жыл бұрын
@@FedericoMalagutti Oh! okay I didn't even think of what if the judges didn't see who really won. that would be frustrating. like I said if it were real fight I think you'd have em.
