This was probably the best teaching program I have seen in my 30 year as a RN for ICU staff as the basic intro, great analogies!! Tami Sanders RN, CCRN, CVICU, SAMC Dothan, Alabama

Best explanation of hemodynamics! Life saver! I have listened several lectures from doctors and nurses but this one beats them all!!! Simple, effective, easy to comprehend!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Thank you so much for the mini case study at the end. It allowed me apply what I learned. I also enjoyed the example of the balloon and tank to visualize and understand.

Preload and contractility are positively correlated, so would a decrease in preload not lead to a decrease in contractility?

In septic shock CO will be low, HR will be up but SV will be down, due to low preload and afterload.
@allenwolfe6598
@allenwolfe6598 8 жыл бұрын
+Olga Pidgorna NOT really....it depends if its the WARM or COLD phase of sepsis. The CO is hyperdaynamic in the warm phase of septic shock.

question: why is the contraction high in septic shock (13:48). i understand that the preload and afterload are low. earlier she said pre en afterload affectie the contraction forse. So low pre and afterload should give low contraction. there is already tachycardia to increase the co becsuse of the low sv

I think you've answered your own question, the last sentence. CO = Increase in HR to maintain cardiac output with low SV.

But if they are in a shock state - by definition there is end organ hypoperfusion - therefore shouldn’t the CO be low??

The video is amazingly helpful, but just so you know, the graphic of the faucet with the blood has an outline of Iraq behind it. I'm sure it was a mistake but I think it has deep political sentiment. Thanks!

This would be fantastic if you would not use terms interchangeably. Using three names or phrases for the same thing makes this video confusing.
