Henrhyd Falls - The ‘Real’ Batcave From The Dark Knight Rises

I’m looking for Batman!
Henrhyd Falls, South Wales was used in the Dark Knight Rises film starring Christian Bale as Batman. It was the entrance to the Batcave.
Last time I visited it had been quite dry so the waterfall wasn’t that big but this time I visited after some heavy rain. The waterfall was really flowing.
And you can see why Christopher Nolan chose Henrhyd Falls as the entrance to Batman’s secret hideout.
Henrhyd Falls in the Brecon Beacons is also South Wales’s tallest waterfall at 88 feet.
This area of South Wales on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons is known as Waterfall Country.

It truly is a spectacular and magical place. I last visited back in late May on a gloriously warm and sunny day. It was reasonably quiet and I even had it all to myself for a short while, but that was on a mid-week day. I imagine it becomes a dreadful heaving tourist honeypot at the weekends. I am pleased to report that the little catering van at the top of the walk is quite excellent and serves a very tasty jumbo sausage. Which I almost gagged on as the walk back up from the waterfall nearly knackered me and I was still blowing as I took my first mouthful - big mistake.

Yep, the burger van is still there. I was too early when I visited. They were just setting up as I was leaving.

I know it well Marcus. But I give it a miss these days - if I got down to the fall I'd never get back to civilisation. Heart and cancer won't allow. Did you follow the river downstream? Some interesting features lower down the valley. Hwyl fawr
