Chaim Koppelman, renowned American artist and Aesthetic Realism consultant says: "When I first saw Henri Matisse's "Harmony in Red" it took my breath away. I felt it was one of the most joyous paintings I'd ever seen [and] a vivid affirmation of this Aesthetic Realism principle stated by its Founder, Eli Siegel: "All beauty is a making one of opposites, and the making one of opposites is what we are going after in ourselves."
Koppelman began his study of Aesthetic Realism in the early 1940s in classes with Eli Siegel and continued later in classes taught by Aesthetic Realism Chairman of Education, Ellen Reiss. This talk was originally given in the historic Terrain Gallery series titled "Aesthetic Realism Shows How Art Answers the Questions of Your Life!" The painting is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
