That's what it ought to do
@lelinha80744 жыл бұрын
Sampiro Locke we have to take into account that while skill is something very important to depict in scenes like this one, it is still a fight built for the sole purpose of entertainment. Not saying I don’t agree with you as I myself don’t know much about martial arts, but the creators of the show most likely cared more for the visual appeal of the shot rather than how accurate it was to the skill level they attempted to portray.

As cinematography? Indeed! As actors and stunts proficiency? Absolutely! As a way to tell the story of Renfri trying to kill or get killed by Geralt? I agree. As a narrative? Not so, it's really obscure why Renfri tries to kill Geralt or wants to get killed by him, it serves no purpose of hers

The series is based on the books, there isn't any other blood bath like this there as it's out of character. The action in the books comes from Geralt fighting monsters and that was well represented in the series. That being said, yes, it would've been pretty cool to see more of this.

@@ionesito I feel like they could have taken liberties since it's 'based on' the books. It's done all the time with movies & TV shows that are based on actual events. I don't know the books at all though, so I suppose it's good they're working so closely with the source material!

I felt their chemistry more than I felt it between Yen and him. And the way it was written he carried the memory of Renfri with him throughout the rest of the season where he doesn't with Yen. I've watched the series now at least 6 times and these two particular sword fight scenes are absolutely mesmerizing to watch. The fact that the first one where Gerault is fighting the gang is done in a single shot is spectacularly incredible, the amount of pinpoint timing required by so many people, including the cameraman is exquisite and seemingly flawless. The second sword fight with Renfri really does look like an intricately detailed dance, the moves between them are this whirling, spiraling dance of swords and death. I love hearing about the backstory behind scenes and this one by Henry does not disappoint! It's always worth the repeat viewing of this series. I am so looking forward to another, and many more seasons.

@torakka2ow6404 жыл бұрын
I didn’t think it was bad but I didn’t think it was good either. First off, it’s very confusing for people new to the series. What they should have done is first explained what is a witcher and how they are trained(trial of the grasses, law of surprise). And then they should have gone with chronological order. The whole Cintra storyline was really confusing even for me who have read the books because of the flashbacks. Another thing is that I feel like it gave way too much time for the sorceresses instead of Geralt. Especially the finale was really unpleasing for me. The effects looked cool and all but it honestly felt like I was watching Game of Thrones with some extra magic. Also the Nilfgaardian armor looked fake and the Sylvan mask was hilariously noticeable. They also barely gave Triss any screentime which is weird since she is an important character in the books. Also they portrayed Vilgefortz as a total idiot hothead.
@torakka2ow6404 жыл бұрын
I did like some things though. Geralt, Jaskier and Yennefer all were portrayed very well by their actors. I got to also give it to Ciri’s actress. She is really good for her age. Jaskier totally made the season for me especially his song ”toss a coin for your witcher”. And Cavill crushed it as Geralt. The fight scenes were good. Fast movements, flashy and brutal.

@@torakka2ow640 Having read the books too I think they made some weird decisions. Obviously we'll see more of Triss in Kaer Morhen but why did they turn Cahir into a madman and Francesca Vigo into a psychopath? Makes no sense if they want to faithfully adapt the whole saga.
