I agree. I have nothing to comment about because this video said everything I felt about the situation. I mean I love Henry Cavill. He was born to play and literally looks like Superman in real life. BUT for me, I am first a SUPERMAN FAN no matter who plays the character. I support the best and the worse of Superman. I'm one of those Superman fans where the character can do no wrong, just those who wrote the story or those who act his role in whatever media you put him in. So I am open to Superman Legacy because in my mind it won't be Superman who messed up that movie (because Superman can do no wrong in my mind) it will be James Gunn and David Corenswet playing Superman.

Blue Beetle is the first DCEU movie that I didn't watch in theatres and still haven't seen to this day. I wanted to keep supporting DC because I grew up a DC fan but I couldn't bring myself to keep financial supporting them. I'll probably watch Aquaman but I can't promise anything more after that. Happy for those who will still watch and maybe one day I'll be back. Until then I'll probably just stick to the comics and animation.

If you wanna know my thoughts on _Blue Beetle,_ the best movie I can compare it to would be the first _Ant-Man._ In the sense of it's pretty much EVERY superhero film ever made, feeling like a hodgepodge of other superhero properties such as _Iron Man, Ant-Man, Ben 10,_ and _Venom_ (if you see the movie, you'll know how it references all of those), but what makes it remotely work is the charm and performances of the actors, as they're giving it their all and really breathe life into what is a pretty predictable script. Take all that as you will.

All James Gunn had to do was bring back Zack Snyder and let him finish his trilogy and then seek out other directors and writers that would have continued the DCEU and Gunn would have been the CEO of the year and then after some time he could have introduced his new DCU. This is Simple and would have made the studios a boatload of money. But now he has the weight of the world trying to create a Superman movie from scratch with a new actor and everything is riding on this movie’s success. Such a bad move. It’s very frustrating knowing we had a universe in place and it never got the development it deserved.

Gunn is thinking more about his own opportunity to do his own stuff and not about what fans want. As co-CEO of DC studios he should've considered the fan backlash even if his personal preferences were against Snyderverse.

The majority of fans liked his films. The critics...not so much. But that's an elite made up of 500 people max, and they're often wrong. As they were in the case of Carpenter's The Thing, or Ridley Scott's Bladerunner. But when a fandom has a positive majority opinion about someone's films (75/ 63/ 94% for the Snyderverse trilogy respectively...a majority) and back it up with healthy profiting ticket/ vod/ disc and merchandise sales where allowed, you should probably avoid pissing those fans off. Otherwise your audience shrinks catastrophically, as it did from Shazam til Flash (and no doubt soon for Aquaman 2) and the only way to make profit is to make low budget films like Shazam that hardly anyone wants to see. But no, rather than staying the course, or making a slight course correction after the highly lucrative BvS, WB decided to butcher Justice League and then take Superman, Batman, the Flash (until this year) and Aquaman (from 2018 until this year) away from DC fans...and ruin Wonder Woman in her sequel. Six years of low tier characters and disconnected action comedies no one asked for. Now Gunn's dumb reboot announcement has made sure the last few redundant DCEU films bring the total amount of flops (including his own disastrous TSS) to...eight? But sure, Snyder ruined the brand, and Gunn is apparently going to be its saviour. 😂

Frustration doesn't even come close with a situation like this. Look, I really enjoy James Gunn's movies, i even own most of them, including some of the harder to find ones that were originally released only as a web-series, but this time round, I legitimately have no clue what Gunn's thinking by doing what he's doing. It's like he's your opponent in Naughts and Crosses, constantly just avoiding the clear spaces where he could win, but instead would rather troll you so you can't see a proper game being played or even get finished in a satisfying way. This was a joke and absolutely one of the most unprofessional maneuvers a Hollywood studio has ever made. It’s really amazing that a studio who is looking to change their image immediately makes a move that seems to be exactly in line with what they’ve done over the past 20 years. I do think the Henry Cavill situation is tragic for fans. I'd love for Snyder to continue is work but at least they could have done the Superman vs Black Adam, etc with other directors. Thank you for the update. I am 63 years old and growing up for me superman was George Reeves. Then came along Christopher reeves who did a great job with it. And now my kids get to watch Henry Cavill who totally won me over as Superman. I would like to see the bright colored suit again, I was never a fan of the darker colors. I love this video. A great comprehensive look in detail of what had transpired. I think it's important that folks are reminded of these details. Folks today have short memories and forget a lot of key elements, and just why this studio sucks and keeps sucking. My words. But teasing Henry Cavill's return and not actually doing it was a HUGE missed opportunity. The support and majority of the fandom was there. This was the ultimate time for DC to truly shine. It would have been a great turning point for DC as this new DC slate was truly exciting, and no one was super excited about Marvel's next phase. I really enjoyed Henry Cavill's portrayal of Superman. I didn't think much of Black Adam as a movie , but I was delighted and ecstatic when Cavill was back. Then, news that Snyder would be allowed to make Justice League 2 with all the original cast .. I was absolutley over the moon. I'm also a big Batfleck fan. Then, the shit show happened and Cavill was gone, followed by all our hopes of JL2 and Snyderverse finishing what he started.. The Flash movie was awful, the best part of it was actually Batfleck doing his bike chase at the start of the movie.. even the great Michael Keaton couldn't save that shit show.. and George Clooney at the end? wtf ? I cringed. Cavill - you're a gem, you deserved so much better. I also loved you in the Witcher. I look forward to your next project.. respect.

Great video, and good discussion on the context, around Black Adam. WB, and a lot of people fail at understanding context when discussing their opinions on the DCEU, as a whole. The whole 'Snyderverse DCEU films didn't do well, so course correction was needed' argument is proof of that. The box office numbers are out there, anyone can look them up, and use maths to compare. The Snyderverse DCEU films did a lot better then the MCU's initial films at the box office. Over $800 million with four films than what the MCU received with five films. It's also something crazy like the first three DCEU films (Snyderverse) made more than the last eight non-Snyderverse DCEU films.

Even Zack Snyder's lowest earning DCEU film, MOS ($668 million), made like $200 million more than Superman Returns. It took six films for each franchise to get that billion dollar payday on a film, but on average the Snyderverse DCEU films made a lot more, at the box office. All while the MCU was at its peak, and while WB butchered three of the films

Hamda and the guy who played Cyborg were at odds, this is what happens when you have these executives who have no knowledge or vision of these characters producing these movies. I have so much to say in regards to this. People make fun of us and expect us to move on but fail to see why we're pissed off in the first place. From an underwhelming 2017 JL movie, to being dragged around for a few years with b-list characters, until finally, the real Justice League movie in 2021. All the stuff in between is part of what pissed us off, but also with how these so-called professional business men treated ZSJL by not marketing it, denouncing any continuation the weekend of it's release, hiding the numbers, and lastly, uploading THEIR 2017 version trailer when advertising the bluray/4k release of the movie...yeah that'll piss fans off. Do you know what else will piss fans off? Having Cavill announcing his return and later, announce a hard reboot and recast. I blame Gunn. I also blame Zaslav. I am not going to condemn them like most people will. I am just one of the people that will not watch any DC movies going forward. I am tired.

Just do an Elsworlds movie that is Zack Snyder's Justice League 2 & 3. And allow Ben Affleck's Batman/Deathstroke movie. Then after those movies are done, we can all move forward together as a fandom. They need to bring back Henry Cavill.

Exactly I have no idea why this was never considered. If audiences are willing to accept that Reeves!Batman is in a different world than Affleck!Batman, and he's in another separate world as Bale!Batman then they can accept that Cavill!Superman operates in a different world than Gunn!Superman. For god's sake, DC has INFINITE EARTHS in their universe for this very reason so that different kinds of stories can run concurrently. There were several multiverse movies and shows coming out around this time so it's not like audiences were unfamiliar with the idea. "Flash" gave them a perfect opportunity to set up that the worlds were split and that would have provided a gateway for a cinematic "Crisis on Infinite Earths" adaptation which brought in both DCEU and DCU characters, uniting the fanbase finally. But instead....they just trashed it along with the excitement of many fans.

Well, looks like the old regime got the last laugh. Who would've known that Hamada would've gotten his way? Regarding Gunn, Gunn's movies are enjoyable, I must admit, but the way he handled the whole Henry situation leaves much to be desired. Ever since seeing him debut in MOS all the way back in 2013 i liked it for the action and its unique take, although it is quite dark and grim like most say, I can understand those who don't like it, the film itself focused on telling the superman story following an action heavy film, and even being a snyder fan myself i would've LOVED to see what Adby and DeLuca had in planned for MOS 2, hearing all the "Joyful superman" reports. The fact that we could've seen Cavill portray Superman just like Reeves did just crushes my heart. It would've unified most people that had problems with Snyder's take on Superman. With Zaslav at the helm though, looks like warner has not learned anything. Zaslav only cares about the money, probably becaused Discovery made bank with reality show crap. May the new DCU succeed, i don't even care any more. It's all been flop after flop. Maybe with marvel crashing and burning now with Phase 4 allows DC to shine, although the chances seem slim. If Gunn's DCU really does succeed, I really do hope that in 8 years from now we can see some sort of whacky but fun crossover film involving snyder's justice league with Gunn's league to give the whole snyderverse closure. I can't quite put my finger on it but i remember hearing that a crossover would be possible, ala crisis on infinite earths. The story opportunities a movie like that would have would be quite interesting. Regardless of which actors play Superman, if Cavill and Corensweat were on the big screen i'd bet that many people would lose their minds

Thank you for this video. This info explains why all of this happened in the first place. Most fans just think, "Gunn Sucks!" which, I'm inclined to agree with at this point. But, there was a LOT more that happened behind the scenes that led up to all of this. I had never heard of Zaslav nor, of Abdi and Deluca. If all of this is true then, it appears Zaslav and Gunn are equally responsible for what has happened. Looks like Hamada played his part, too. I guess he was playing tit for tat? The fact is, they did Henry dirty. The future problem is the fanbase. Instead of quarreling over who the better Superman is/was which, is stupid and childish, it should be unified in rejecting the new direction Warner Brothers is going. If the majority of the fanbase openly rejects Gunn's 'New DCU', there might actually be some hope for the future. Hit WB in the pocket. It's a simple, concept. The question remains, will the majority actually stay away from the box office when the time comes?

Huge fan of original films so having Cavil was a relief. I don't see why he couldn't continue in the current DC world and then have a significantly younger guy for prequals. I think people could get on board with that. But when you keep chopping and changing, no one can get invested. Gutted we will not see him again. I for one won't grace cinema for next one. Yes I will watch it but I'm not adding to box office opening figures. I think everyone should show there disappointment in this unfair treatment of Cavil.

Reading between the lines here I think what happened was: Gunn was promised something when he was hired, then the studio (or someone) went and did something without consulting Gunn. Realizing that Gunn could play the "breach of contract" card (and he would not be wrong), had to make things right before it got out of hand. Plain and simple. I think there's a communication problem at WB.

If you go back to 2019, gunn said he were offered to do superman or the suicide squad and he choose TSS. Then in 2022, he were offered to be DC co-CEO right before Black adam released. Seem suspicious.... Gunn had to get rid of Henry because of who Henry was attached to. Everyone seems to forget that DJ had announced that he was going to be a consultant to DC & that he had a vision & plan to make Black Adam the new leader of the DCEU. As for the WB announcing Henry’s return, they did but they said “in Black Adam”, there was never an official announcement that he was going to be Superman moving forward other than from Dany Garcia, DJ & Henry himself. James Gunn was not an over night hire as people seem to think, it had already been in the talks. It was also known that no official contract was signed stating Henry was officially back, the contract was only the Cameo in black Adam. Therefore, if Henry thought he was officially back & if he was advised he was back as Superman that would not of come to him directly from the studio, it would have been relayed to him by his manager Dany Garcia. Look at the timing of the announcement, it all coincided with Henry’s premiere tour for Enola - therefore using that platform to talk about coming back as Superman. If you watch all of Henry’s interview, at minimum 30% of all the interviews focused on his return as Superman, announcing his leaving the Witcher. Literally Henry tsunami all interviews for his own benefit on projects outside of Enola. Why??? To stronghold Safran and Gunn into firming up a contract with Henry. But Henry was not alone, a huge “Rock” hung off of Henry’s neck. Henry was let go & pretty much erased because DJ & Dany came along with it. That is the disliked, Henry was collateral damage by association. Henry should have had a signed contract before making any announcement. Which he did not. So blame Dany & DJ. They are the reason.

In my opinion, the decisions that are being made by the DCEU executives will cause them to fail. They already failed with the Flash movie. It didn't turnout at all what they expected.Also having Amber Heard reprise her role as Mera, is turning fans against the movie. A great option for Mera would have been Emilia Clarke, since both actors already performed together in G.O.T. and had a great chemistry together.

As i sad on another place her e on YT DC never has been my favorite - i grew up wirh Spiderman ... and Marvel. BUT... i also really liked the Supermann movies with Christopher Reeve and the Batman`s with Christian Bale. And i "fell in Love" with the DCEU especially Henry, Ben, Gal and wonderful Amy ^^! The versions of Zack Snyder are the best superhero movies of our time and i was burning for MoS 2 with all these guys. Now, after this longer Intro here are my thoughts: Marvel movies became great not only for those spectacular movies - they became great because of holding the actors to develop and enhance their characters. So the fans fell in love with them all because they were "parts of us" for years. THAT´s, in my opinion, one of the major parts for the success! From my point of view WB and DC will fail massively with the new way of DC characters and movies... and to be honest: i will do my best to "support" that, means: I WILL NOT SEE those coming movies! Why? - Because we, the fans, have the strenght and the right to show them what it means, when you are making decissions AGAINST everything the fans love and want. AND - for me - it`s an absolutely NO GO treating honorous people like Henry etc. like they did! Sorry for the new actors - but i maybe had given them all a chance AFTER a great and maybe final MoS 2 with and from Zack. For me WB and DC are history. Sad, very sad...!

I think it really came down to comparison between the box office take that the Marvel movies 🎥 were getting at the pre pandemic times and what the DCEU movies were doing. Which I prefer DC to Marvel any day, but they weren’t even close to Marvel’s draw back then. From a business point of view Warner’s looked like they didn’t have a clue on how to compete with the MCU and their much storied studio was in decline and primed for a takeover. Which is what happened. So in reality this was just new management trying to not only turn things around. But replace a non-preforming to expectations movie series with a new plan. Whether it improves the fortunes or not, time will tell. Yes I think sending the mixed messages about Henry Cavill was poor form for DC. But releasing Blue Beetle before the final extended universe movie, Aquaman 2 was even worse of a decision. If it was up to me, I would’ve rushed all these EU projects through first, to end them before announcing what Gunn & Safran’s new plan was going to be. Even though I would have been working on them in the background.

There’s always 1 thing common with the DCEU, consistency. They always do reboot with different actors for many times but never work the timeline out. It’s always a hit and run movie. Maybe it’s a curse, a curse that DC movies shouldn’t be done by Warner Bros but themselves or others. For decades, the management doesn’t have a clear picture. They always look at what can make more money and what can’t. Not every Marvel movies make money but it’s part of the whole MCU that makes a difference. As such, those movies that don’t make it are beginning to see the lights where more people start to watch them. Another thing about Gunn. He seems to like messing things up and pissing people off. In the arts and entertainment industry, being an ass won’t bring you far. Perhaps he’s in the wrong line or industry, think fashion might suit him more. 😂

BVS dropped the live action Batman and Superman i.p. to a low they hadn't seen in at least a decade or so. The general audience never embraced the questionable/ bad casting or the poorly written, extended universe.
